OK, so I got a query. I searched and found little help.

My comfortable driving position seems to be a little more close and upright than a lot of people (maybe it's my long legs and short arms?)

Anyway, when I'm driving, my head is touching the ceiling, and my knees hit the back of the steering wheel (I'm only just 6ft)

I can see 2 options here.

1: Replace seats with lower ones (modifying the rail shouldn't be too hard -should it?)

2: extending the steering column, using a boss kit or similiar. Sitting further back.

ANy thoughts anyone?

wtf you must have a big steering wheel , i dont have this problem and im 6'2 .open your legs a bit stop sitting like a fairy behind the wheel, relax.

sitting further back would be cheaper then extending the steering column.

if you havent already get an aftermarket steering wheel. i was very surprised at the amount of room i gained buy taking off the airbag one..

and if your steering column is pushed all the way up you must have some seriously long legs to be able to bang it when your driving..

Well to get the correct driving position you need to do the following...

#1 You put your foot BEHIND the peadles pull the seat forward until you have a slight bend in your leg.

#2 You now adjust the back of the seat until you can flop your hand over the TOP of the wheel. Ie wrist sits on top of wheel, hand flops over. When you do this you need your back in the seat, not leaning forward. If you need to adjust the wheel position a little.

There ya go! If your head is still hitting the roof make sure you have your seat wound all the way down.

So most people on here will be sitting what they will feel really close and upright at first. But you do get used to it, it feels way better you will have more feel of the car etc. That and its safer.

Tried that. The distance from my ankle joint to my knee is about the same as from the clutch pedal to the wheel, so either I lower the seat (thus lowering the angle, and letting my knees past) sit further back (which is a bad driving position) extend the column (using a boss kit and a smaller wheel) or drive with my legs wide open like a $2 hooker.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
