Hey,

Got a new clutch put in by CAS, and had a few problems since. Its gone back to their shop though just after a few peoples opinions...

I had a clutch put in to handle 250rwkw, not sure what type/brand.

Gear changing is very rough, no matter what i do, went for a ride in a r33, and gear changing was beyond smooth, you virtually couldn't tell the difference between changing gears, should i expect this in my r32?

The friction point is round an inch from the clutch being fully released, there isn't any play, it simply grabs and thats it

last problem ive noticed, is if i cruise for say 20 min, idle the car for 15 while i talk to mates or something, the clutch will slip to the ****house after that...

Any suggestions on what i should be expecting?

Hi Brodie,

I would imagine that they put in a brass button/puck clutch and a HD pressure plate.

Basically the clutch shouldn't slip, but of course that means that it makes for a very rough and jerky ride until you get use to it.

250rwkw is a fair amount of power, so you probably have a rather heavy duty clutch installed.

Do you know if they put in a multi plate clutch? When you start talking these levels of power, a multiplate clutch would be a better alternative (Although very costly).

With regards to the slipping issue, I can only think that either the clutch plate is getting some very small amounts of oil on it, or that maybe something is seeping off the clutch when it gets hot. It shouldn't be slipping though.

Good luck and hopefully everything will be sorted out.

Cheers,

Tim

Hey thanks for the reply,

I got my car back yesterday, they put a new flywheel in. The old 1 was unbalanced and aparently dead. With the new wheel in, the clutch is *much* easier to handle, and has alot more play room.

In regards to idling then the clutch slipping, i tested it a few times last nite and all seemed good, so fingers crossed ;P

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
