hi

im running an oil only turbo now and just needing to know which is the best method of blocking off the water lines to and from the original turbo.

should i cut the standard line and join it with some hose to the intake side or do i just put a bolt in the feed line and then ill plumb the other end in somewhere else as im running a forward facing plenum and am changing the routes of a few lines.

for an rb25

which is best?

f**k they are nice tits; the hose runs around the back of the engine, and through the throttle body I think, so blocking them up might not be the best option.

Joining them up would be as if they were on a watercooled turbo anyway.

What kind of turbo did you put on? Oil only must be old as the hills?

I would imagine unbolting and removing the lines, and replacing the banjo bolts with normal threaded bolts of the same size. This will block it all up for you.

this is what i had in mind but with the return i can plumb it into a heater hose line that i have free after removing the standard throttle body, then i only need to put a plug in the standard feed hole

i could plumb the old turbo return line in to the line that originally went through the t/b and down to the heater hose

There's an L shaped rubber hose on the back of the plenum that feeds the line around the back of the head. Jam something in the end of it and hose clamp it so it won't leak.

There's a threaded hole in the block at the back where the other line attachs. You can get a proper bung from pirtek which has a rubber oring in it which works well.

I've had mine blocked for 2 years. no problems.

The throttle body circuit is separate to the turbo so blocking it off wont cause any problems and is a hell of a lot tidier.

Just block it off with a bolt.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.  
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.  
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
