The guys name is John Hurley,

6 Little Rundle St

Kent Town

08 8362 4906

For the life of me I just cannot remeber the name of the joint sorry. Make sure you let him know that you want the injectors flowed and rated comparatively, ie 1 to 6 and ask him to mark the injectors properly, I had mine engraved with a number so no confusion:)

EDIT: tuning will most probably be done by D1 Garage (www.d1garage.com)

I removed the rail and tried lightly tapping the pintle with a socket and malet, but the plastic pintle surround shattered. I think the surround was there to help the spray pattern.

Did you cause any destruction using a hammer on the pintle? I'm not replacing injectors, just removing and cleaning.

No damage, except to the platic things. I was told by the mech that was helping me that they are quite cheap to replace.

Doesnt hurt to saturate the injectors with a bit of CRC as well:) But even then the little buggers just dont want to come out until I used the hammer.

B-Man, leaving them in the rail is just a chemical clean which works but isn't the best way to clean injectors. I'm removing them to have cleaned ultrasonicly and replace worn seals.

A friend came over and managed to pry them out of the rail with a wide flat head screw driver. Took a while to get the technique down but they popped right out once he had it figured out. Most of the plastic things survived too :). But they are cheap to replace.

Good to hear you got it sorted, how much did the little plastic joeys end up costing each?

I may have spoken too soon. The injector cleaning place I went to said pintle caps to suit our injectors are hard to find. Not too big of a problem though, the pintle caps are just there to secure the lower o-ring, they don't affect spray pattern at all.

The injector guy ended up modifying pintle caps from another injector type to suit. It looked like it'd do the job but a couple of the injectors popped out when I tried test pressurizing the rail at home. It may have been because I didn't screw the injector caps back on, but I think the injectors should make a pretty good seal with the rail even without the injector caps on. Any one know?

I now officially hate side feed injectors.

Don't damage the pintle caps when removing your injectors, there are no replacements available! It probably won't matter if you are careful though, half off mine were broken even before I removed them from the rail. Found a new injector guy who's trying to make custom pintle caps for me. Hopefully these ones will seal properly.

The pintle caps are the little plastic bits that 'claw' around the bottom of the injector right ????

What affect does broken pintle caps have on the injection system, pattern and flow ? ??

The reason I ask is because ALL of my pintle caps were broken when I pulled my injectors out to take a peek !

    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.

    • sensible choice....and all 32s should be in yellow
    • Run it in open loop for now, and drop the frequency down. This lowers the resolution and requires more duty cycle to do anything, however good to troubleshoot.
    • According to Josh, one of our local Americans, it seems the USA still can't get turbo systems quite right at a lot of places, so possible that they're not running great at all, but they've just not complained as NFI about getting it right...
