Anyway my question is do i need to change it in my name over there, or does both him and me have to sign the rear of the rego papers, then it jsut changes over when i take it over the pits down here??

Easiest way is to draw up a letter of sale, with both your full names on it, and witnesses preferred, stating date, time, price etc at time of changeover. That way there is written proof if speeding tickets happen on the way back down, or earlier that morning (to cover both of you!), plus it also acts as a recipt for Service Tas when you go to register it down here. Where in Tassie are you? As long as the car is in good nick, just take it to a servo who does inspections, pay your $50, then take the paperwork to Service Tas, pay your money and get your plates.

Also, get insurance for the car now. Tell them when you are picking it up, and as much info as you have on the car. They will cover you and give you a couple of weeks to make the first payment. Well, Shannon's do!

I've brought two cars from the mainland, both this way, and apart from dickhead sellers, never had a problem with the process I've just described.

Hope it helps.

Cheers, Greg.

Where in Hobart are you??

Look in the Tassie section of BoostCruising. There was a thread about this about 3 weeks ago with lots of suggestions. I know it's Boost but there is some good info on there.....sometimes!

Cheers, Greg.

U dont need to put the car over the pits down here as long as it is regoed up there and i think maybe needs that rwc thing too.

There is like an $8 change over fee.

No offence but you're on drugs!

Have you registered a car from the mainland down here? I have twice so unless the rules have changed somewhat in the last 2 months....

Meh, I don't do the whole MSN thing. Have better ways to waste my time!

If you think you can do it for $8, and can get away with it legally, you deserve a Knighthood!

I think you have miss read what he wrote Greg???

The way i read it he is saying you dont need a to take your car to have a full transport inspection just the RWC which is what our AIS is and can be done at any certified station like already mentioned.

The $8 change over fee i assume is part of what you pay Service Tas along with stamp duty and rego fees etc but i have never heard of that either :/

All in all he has explained the exact samething that you and i have just worded differently :)

It should cost about $50 to get your lights checked and general road worthiness. Then stamp duty on the valve of the car, then rego. I can never remember paying a $8 fee for anything.

I'd just like to see the paperwork saying the rego can be transferred over for $8, which is what was implied first off. If it's true, I've been ripped off twice by Service Tas!

Cheers, Greg.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
