Hey guys.

i have a Nissan Skyline R32 Gts-t series 2 , i bought the car couple of months back and had no problems with it however, after driving for about two months the car started to kick a bit over bumps in the rode, also the front right suspension bottom's out over bumps.. any way so i thought id just take it to Pedders Supsenion to get a 28 point check. they probably aint the best place but just thought id see what they said.. as stated above they said it was DANGEROUS TO DRIVE!! i have got the 28 point susp. check sheet thease are the following problems that they have stated.

Front

Shocks: L/H SHOCK LEAKING

Sway bar bushes: R/H SWAY BAR LINK BENT AND BUSHES DESTROYED

Tie rod ends: R/H VERY WORN

Upper bushes: VERY WORN

Steering gear: RACK MOUNTS, RACK BOOTS, AND RACK ENDS WORN

Radius Bushes: BUSHES TORN

Tyres: BALD ON INSIDE EDGES

Rear

Shocks: L/H REAR LEAKING

Bump Stops : DESTROYED

so i asked them how much it would cost and they said $2000.00 including labour , however i thought its better i ask here. and see what people come up with as to what can be done, and also if any one knows the prices of the parts above and how much it should come to.. i was looking at putting in tein coil overs, and white line sway bars and a cusco strut brace. however if there are better products on the market for the same approx price range then im open to ideas.

any help would be much apreciated.

thank you very much

Let's go though it one by one

Shocks: L/H SHOCK LEAKING = a new shock will fix that (try the Group Buy http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/-t85591).html

Sway bar bushes: R/H SWAY BAR LINK BENT AND BUSHES DESTROYED = you will get new bushes with the bar but you will have to either straighten the link or order new ones with the bar.

Tie rod ends: R/H VERY WORN = new tie rod ends, Just Jap or equivalent in your area.

Upper bushes: VERY WORN = front camber kit will replace them

Steering gear: RACK MOUNTS, RACK BOOTS, AND RACK ENDS WORN = not unusual, but it depends on how worn they are

Radius Bushes: BUSHES TORN = front caster kit will replace them

Tyres: BALD ON INSIDE EDGES = once you get the aliognment right using teh camber kits you won't be wearing out the insides of the new tyres.

Rear

Shocks: L/H REAR LEAKING = ditto front

Bump Stops : DESTROYED = very common on R32's thses days, they are getting on. You should order new bumps tops with the shocks. Coil over kits come with them but the Jap kits are usually far too hard for our conditions.

Cheers

Gary

Whats "aite"" mean?

You can go the teins for sure but for sure but too get the really decent teins its a fair whack of money ($2300++)...

I just picked up brand new set of bilsteins for $660 (rrp $1200), so if you look around you may be able to do the same, then you have some decent shocks atleast...

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
