hey all done,

im interested in Injectors. im unsure of when they are needed.

i get the idea that they obviously increase fuel flow etc. but do they increase power?

or do they just to keep the fuel pressure up?

if i was to put bigger injectors into my car it would do nothing unless i had a bigger fuel pump? ran more boost?

i have done a search and found nothing like this if there is a thread on injectors alone please redirect me :P

cheers.

When you are modifying a turbo vehicle, the point of most modifications (eg. upping the boost/bigger turbo) is to be able to push more air into your engine. In doing so, you must also push more fuel in to acheive the correct ratio an engine needs to burn the excess air you are shoving in. This is why you need to upgrade components of your fuel system like injectors & pump.

Therefore injectors alone with the same tune/setup will not help you.

Whether you need injectors or not is all about your power aim - a high power aim will typically need injectors that can push out the amount of fuel you need. A search will come up with plenty of recent threads about injectors and what power each type will handle.

Hi,

When you get a way of adjusting injector opening times (After market ECU or piggy bak) you need to get larger injectors when your current ones are on 100% duty cycle, or "are open for as long as possible"

I once explained it a way to a sibling, Making power is like making a cordial drink. Motors like to use a certain strength of water / cordial (air / fuel) mix. Lean is too much water, rich is too much cordial. ~14:7:1 is the best, but you want it a little stronger under load; 12-12.3:1

So how ever much power your making (cordial mix drink) you want to (relatively) keep the same water / cordial ratios :P

Injectors simply maintain fuel control to keep within the same strength ratio's through the myamid of differnt engine conditions; they supplement power, not create it. One seperate component doesnt 'make' power, without a dependancy on another. Tis the motors ability as a whole, to move as much cordial mix as possible, that makes poowaah

You might not find info like this on a hipo forum as its kinda 101 automotive :D

Hope it helps

    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
