well morgan park really is a great fun race track! top speed is about 180 on the main straight. there are two 140 kmh left hand sweepers, and the rest is quick squirts between tight turns and left / right combinations. the nissan/datsun nationals next year there will be a ripper!

the way these sprints work is you line up next to an opponent for a standing start on the grid, then do 3 laps. over 2 days you do 8 sessions like this. the results are determined on the total time of your best 3 lap session.

competition in my class was tough, around 20 cars, and the cars in our class were pretty much the fastest on track. the results were:

1. Paul Gillis in his GT40

2. Mike Weston Leyburn GT race car

3. Eric Roth in an ex Carrera Cup Porchse GT3 race car

4. Peter Somers GT40

5. Simon Rhodes Triumph TR-7 with V8 donk

6. Yours truly 300ZX

and the rest, DB Cobras, Porsche 933, Skylines, Silvias, etc etc

Just checked out their wed site. I didn't even know Morgan Park existed till just now. Looks like a Great facility and event. I wish that Townsville could get their act together and build something similer. We got the V8 super cars comming next year on a street circuit so hopefully that might spark some more intrest in motorsport up this way.

good job! i love morgan park, very technical.

what lap times?

my best lap time for the weekend was a 1:10 something. I hope to take a couple of seconds off that once I get used to the track.

what kind of times do you guys do around there?

PS i was just looking at your site, what the hell is the maryborough sprints? :)

amec , i think our best around their was around 1:06 but i havent played there since it's been resurfaced so i dont know whether thats helped or hindered times. been nearly 12 months i think since we were there.

maryborough sprints are in june at the show grounds and it a little sprint track they set up , like the gatton sprints , fastest around a short course, 175 competitors this year again over two days.

a lot of fun and great to camp there and stuff!!

michael looks like you were having a lot of fun out at the track day on the 5th ! :ninja: great pics,

morgan park is a fantastic drivers track, i really love it, you must what oil surge there in a gtr though!

yeah Ports keep the bastards honest hey? I was chatting to Paul, he's selling his GT40 and going looking into doing a Chev C5(?) race car, holy crap that thing will fly!

nice thats quick :ninja: the track seems quite smooth now so you'd probably go even quicker.

Pete

no general practise days at Morgan Park on weekends? would love to have a look but too hard to get there on a wednesday...

Im not sure hey. entering the M.P. sprint series is a fairly formal process, you have to pre-enter for the 4 rounds, have a cams LS2 license, fill out a few forms etc etc. its not like you can just turn up on the day there and go racing.

1.10 something??? did you have someone in the stands with a stopwatch?

I am in he B series, (no different to the A series, there is just too much inerest) and all you would have got from the officals is a 3 lap total time. Not trying to bag ur time in any way, just wondering how you came up with it.

My best a few weeks ago in the B sprints was 3min 36sec for 3 laps with a standing start. I'm guessing it would equait to lap times some thing like

1:14 standing lap,

1:12 tyres warming up lap

1:10 tyres still warming up final lap.

I have an AIM in car track timer :)

I will have to come out to the next round and say G'day. how have you been going in the last 2 rounds????

did quite well in round 2, but was way off the pace in round 3 due to a very cold saturday and the slicks I run on the rear take ages to heat up. it was warmer on the sunday and the lap times were better but not as good as round 2. unfortunately the results have yet to be posted on the morgan park web site so I have no idea how I went.

It is a shame you had lousy weather, our 2nd round was a biterly cold weekend and windy too. R3 was pleasent enough dispite an overnight low of about -4, Frost was thick on everything. Dispite that ppl were setting personal best times in most classes, my self included. The AIM lap timer in the car showed a best of 3:30.15. However on the board it came up as 3;31.60. ho well?

Here is some footage of that run. I borrowed a camera mount which sat the camera abit low. he WRX behind had a camera in too, hoping to get a copy of his footage some time.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
