Hi all,

Just a quick questions about bov's. Standard bov's are plumback therefore all hoses are attached, but when you install an atmospheric bov you have to block one hose. What would happen if you removed that hose and blocked it on a standard bov?

it will make the standard bov atmospheric.

i dont know about skylines, but out of boredom i have done this to other cars and it sounds like a weak fanny fart.

worth a try but. it's not going to cost you anything

Good idea not posting this in the main Forced Induction thread... you'd be slain :)

All Skylines, as far as I know.. use BOV's that don't seal 100% They leak constantly through a small hole, to smoothen out response when driving. (clearly as they're leaking back to a point in front of the turbo behind the AFM, this doesn't upset running.

You cannot make the stock BOV work atmo, unless you block that hole up.

But hell, don't listen to me, i had to, 4 yrs ago, try it... hahhaa.

I only made it home by left foot braking, and always applying throttle when doing so...

Lack a GF and need some toosh toosh, then grab a proper atmo bov and tune it to NOT STALL with your bender / PFC / full ECU...

Just say'n

The reason im asking crazy questions is my friend has an atmospheric GFB Mach1 bov and has no stalling issues what so ever, and everyone ive talked to about bov's says if its not plumback then your car will have inconsistant revs resulting in stalling. I wanted to know if the standard bov could act like an atmospheric and make different noises without causing them problems. That way you could have fun without spending extra on a new bov. I wont be doing this just a quiery .

Yah, the result isn't consistent. I too, have mates who've run atmo bov's on AFM'd cars just fine, which goes against the war cry

As long as you can adjust the preload so it doesn't open at idle, it wont stall.

To cure stalling when slowing, ppl raise the idle a little, so the idle solenoid doesn't have to work so hard to catch it.

To cure the pops and flame during hi rpm gear shift, ppl lean out the fuel cells in that area, so leaning all the 0% throttle (vertical / load) cells in the higher rpm changes (horizontal)

Some get it to work, some don't

edit: read this post about my experiance... 4 yrs ago eeek

Even the Datto chased revs without it hooked up. I got myself a GFB stealth FX and can now have it whatever ratio I want atmo or plumb back as long as I have enough air going back to the intake. Works a treat though I usually have it all plumb back cos it draws enough attention as is.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
