Comments / Modifications: bought the car stock as a rock fresh off the boat from japan. hasn't even seen it's first full year in aus yet and has been serviced every 5-7000km with receipts and whatnot. this car is absolutely immaculate inside and out except for a small ding in the rear passenger side quarter panel, and a couple of scrapes and stone chips on the front bar

have since spent around $3500 adding the following:

17x7 mags - brand new tyres on front, second hand 70-80% on rear - rims are immaculate and have been on for less than a month

kenwood mp3/usb head unit

clarion 3way 6x9 rear speakers

short shifter

3" mild steel catback with bolt on x-force cannon and silencer

darkest legal window tint (lifetime warranty against bubbles/fading/fogging)

about 1000km ago oil, fuel and air filters were replaced, and standard spark plugs were replaced with NGK iridium plugs

put a couple of stupid stickers on it, but they'll come off without a hassle if you don't want them

also i have some absolutely kick ass batman seat covers on the front seats... HELL YEAH!!

i can return the exhaust, wheels, and shifter to stock and try to sell them separately for anyone who's looking to really keep costs down

just for those who didn't catch it, this car is NON TURBO so can be driven legally on P-plates. has plenty of power and will get around 400-450km to a tank of petrol. has been run on 98 octane fuel when i'm feeling cheap, but usually run on shell v-power

drop me a line if you want to take a test drive. i live in box hill, work in preston/coburg and spend a fair bit of time around croydon/lilydale/monbulk so i'm more than happy to come to you when i'm in the area

will sell for $13k with original wheels, exhaust, stereo and shifter

or you could make an offer... if you're serious i'll consider it (first person to say "five dorra" gets a smack in the head)

  • 3 weeks later...

will sell for $13k as is, $12k stock

still willing to take offers...

only 7 weeks til i'm gonna need something that fits a baby capsule

no takers? did i mention that it still has more than 2 years warranty?

i had a guy offer me a vx commodore as a trade and i'm considering it because i don't have any better options...

DON'T LET ME BUY A COMMIE!!

someone buy it

yeah i know i'm asking too much, but here's hoping lol. i haven't seen many for sale recently so i thought i'd go for slightly more than i really expect it to, hence saying "make an offer" every time i update this. i've had an offer of 10k and an offer of a vx commodore so far... and i'm not a huge fan of either offer being as i spent damn near 15 just to buy it less than a year ago.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
