My SAU VIC friends,

I need your help - my partner and I are having our wedding at the end of the year, and as such thought it would be a fun idea to film a 15-20 minute film clip to show guests at the reception on the wedding day.

The clip will be filmed by a professional film studio specialises in special effects. The film clip is a short one and should take 1 full day to shot, during this clip, there will be a short street racing scene which will be filmed under controlled conditions with the Police's awareness. So I need some friends to act in this clip and I need your cars.

For those that seen 2 Fast, 2 Furios, this clip will be similiar to that of the first 12 minutes of the film. There will be heaps of special effects e.g. flames, smoke flaring and awesome acrobatic special effects etc. So this clip will be awesome by any standards - if you want to act (and also help a fellow SAU member out) and want your cars in this professional short film clip - please register your interests... after the shoot, there will be a free BBQ with beers/soft drink for everyone paticipant PLUS if you participate you will get a copy of the above clip to keep.

I am after all types of sports cars, preferably Jap Imports... I need to create a Street Drag scene so the more the better, but eventually I will need another 4 cars to race against myself during the clip. For those that can drift, this would even be better. The fil shoot shot should take place between JULY-AUGUST - all participants will be notified before this date with reherals and group meetings to take place at the start of APRIL.

If you are interested, please send me an email with your name, contact details, detail of your car (with a picture is even better) and I will let you know further details and will meet with you for further details.

Plese send emails to: [email protected]

Many thanks - hope to see you all there, I say again this wll be professional filmed with special effects, bluescreens and CGI - make your ride stand out and on film. Thanks all in advance for your help.

Regards,

Kevin

Just an update...

Firstly, thanks for everyone's PM - good interest so far...

I had given a wrong email - corrected, sorry fellas.

I got my licenseback Friday - all good.

It will not be a street drag... we'll be driving slowly, but the film will be sped up.

I'm going to speak to the cops and police... if this doesn't work, we can always do something else...

It will be really good - fo those that are interested, please send me emails.

And of course I'll be there... we'll be organising group meetings soon, so I will need names ASAP.

Thanks all.

OK fellas, I've just spoken to the local area cop station and have spoken to a few people about this idea...

Some slight changes... I hope this will go down well with everyone...

The clip will be just about a group of cars going on a cruise up GOR and some other suburban areas... that's it... but the quality of the shoot will be superior and stylish... so far I've got 5 people interested on SAU... Please PM or email me the above details and I'll book you in...

Should be great... a formal group meeting will be in around 2 weeks.

Cheers,

Kevin

Mate if this is played at a wedding you will look like the biggest tool to everyone.

And may i ask what has a video like this got to do with a wedding?

Fair question mate, and I see your point.

However, I won't look like a fool as there's a storyline this all of this... not just a matter of showing off Skylines and sport cars alike for the sake of it during a wedding...

There'll be a storyline to it... basically, I'm crusing with my boys then I meet my wife, then we hook up and then blah blah all that romantic stuff... the car scene will only a be a couple of minutes but just need some friends to help out that's all.

Like I said, good opportunity for everyone to meet up and also good to put some cars on a professional clip that everyone can get a copy of... so yeah, that's the basis of it... let me know if there's anyone else who's interested.

Thanks,

Kevin

u gotta make it more action packed dude.....

like perhaps u know put some fighting scenes in it - like to show that youd do anything for her

perhaps like some people in commodores are like circling around her - doing wheelies and shit...and u and ur skyline friends pop out of no where

fighting starts like batman....POW!!! BIFF!!! KAPAOW!!!!! WANK!!!!

u get the girl

and as the credits are rolling...everyone is dancing like this:

:(:):):):banana::banana:

lol.... yeah, could work but too dramatic for me... lol

So yeah, you guys get the idea...

i just spoke to the cops and they've agreed to participate in this...

They've promised me that if we want to go with the drag racing angle, they'll be more than happy to provide chase cars and even impound the cars involved for that realism you just don't see in the movies

ok give him a break already

UPDATE.

Firstly and foremost, thanks to everyone that has send me their emails and PM's ... everyone has been responded to... I know have nearly what I need... a couple more and we're set... thanks so much for your interests...

I just spoke to my cameraman today and spoke to him about the script... he likes it and asked me to get a group together ASAP then meet up to bounce ideas around before organising a meeting with the director/camera crew...

Please send me your interests ASAP as this group will be finalised by the end of this week with group meetings to begin next week.

After this meeting all participants will be given a script and also a storyboard of what and how the clip will be filmed.

And the BBQ will be tops - most of all you guys are helping me with the clip and it will also be fun.

We'll talk soon - thanks all... please email / PM me now if you're interested...

Also, if you can supply background extras willing to participate as CROWDS this will be good too...

Regards,

Kevin

    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
