Hey all, im new here and thought i would ask a question.

Now, im very keen to buy an old r32 or an old 180sx, one with maybe a blown engine perhaps because they sell for shit loads cheaper. im just wondering if its possible for someone like me. (good with hands, but dosnt no much abotu engine) to follow like a rebuild thingy to rebuild an engine? think its possible?

anything is possible man. but it comes to the point when u rebuild an engine that there are some things u just cant do yourself and need proffessionals. such activities include, block machining, block blueprinting/honing and balancing. also if u are doing the head u will need a regrind to allow room for larger cams.

u said yourself u dont know much about engines. so i doubt that u will do a good job, no offence. it is best to just drop it off to your trusted mechanic. then u will be garanteed that it is perfect. pistons, piston rings, crankshaft, bearings and rods are an absolute biatch to install. a pro knows what they are doing and has done it many times.

do not attempt if u are not 100 % on your skills.

I'll post pics when I start tearing it apart and i'll make a thread about it for everyone whos interested or those who want to give advice on how to take it apart/put it back together.

and no, I don't know that much about engines, which is why i bought the rooted engine in the first palce.

there are so many busted engines for sale these days, just pick one up and start learning about it.
