Looks like day light saving has hit again.

THERE is not a single Multanova camera on WA roads this weekend - resulting in thousands of speeding motorists escaping fines and demerit points.

About 5000 speeders are caught on film every weekend by speed cameras.

But this weekend, they are all out of service because of a technical glitch caused by the end of daylight saving.

Just days after six people died during a horror Easter period, police confirmed they were recalibrating the cameras and computers, with clocks being put back one hour this morning.

Police had tried to keep it secret -- camera locations for this weekend were even published by other media outlets.

The 25 Multanovas are the state's major weapons against speeding motorists, but they have been out of operation since Friday.

Was ont he cover of the west.

Funy though because:

A) Technically by the West and News.com publishing this, they're essentially causing any potential 'abuse' of the camera free weekend. So though they may say that speeding is bad and dangerous they're just shooting themselves in the foot.

B) Speed camera don't stop deaths. Simple as that, the knowledge of potentially being caught (camera or not) for speeding causes people not to speed - preventing speed related accidents.

C) Just because there's no Multinovas out, doesn't mean they wont be out in greater numbers with handhelds and vehicle mounted radars.

There will be exactly the same number of incidents there are every weekend, but they will be oblivious to that fact next week when they put these life savers back on 60kph roads with no accident history or 70kph roads that are flat, straight & not in a built up area that should be at least 80.

No wonder why I noticed more highway patrol cars out on the road this weekend. I've NEVER seen them in my area before, and this weekend I saw them about 8 times, half of those were with them having just pulled somebody over. Shame the visible (and IMO more deterring) patrol cars aren't out in force like that every weekend. I'd rather have them out on the roads than the the sneaky hidden revenue raising boxes that do nothing to deter speeding in the immediate/short term or even in the long term (the continual rise of the number of people being caught speeding backs this claim up). Not to mention multanova's cant pull over drunk drivers, drugged up drivers, cars that shouldn't be on the road, etc.

Side note, the road safety office wants to drop all the country highway speed limits from 110 to 100.... you have to wonder what kind of retarded monkeys working there make decisions like that.

If you're speeding and caught by a camera then it's already too late, you may slow back down to the speed limit but I bet most people will continue to speed knowing they've already been caught and angry at that very fact.

If you're speeding and you see a marked police car, officer or some other kind of marking suggesting that there is a chance you could get caught, you will more than likely slow down to avoid being caught and continue to drive slower because they're in the area and you haven't been caught yet... Maybe they could sponsor people to drive marked traffic police cars to deter people who speed?

I can vouch for that, easter weekend, open road outside a built up area, just before a 100 zone sign (90 in 80 zone)

Ah well, havent been caught in over 20 years... it drove home the fact that multinovas dont slow people down, most people would probably drive to the road conditions rather than the signed limit - perhaps all the added concentration to make sure you dont slip a few kms over the limit is distracting people from paying attention on the roads

We have had speed limit/speed camera/road toll propaganda shoved down our throats for years now, which the last couple of years road tolls totally disprove (remembering they have been using the speed/camera/death stats for some time to prove cameras stop deaths)

bloody leaches

haha

well not every road is suited for the speed limit... it should be variable!

a small narrow road 'back street', few trees and parks... yeah 40-50km..

a back street that is wide and new... no house lots like 60km

freeway should be 130km lol hence get traffic off the road quicker..

dam i hate cops with camera's, its all so not fair =( they just want easy browney points at the end of the day!!

    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
    • It's TWO steering wheels actually. 😛 one for each hand They are wheels, and they steer!
