hey guys, a thought has been running through my mind as of late and i just want to know what you guys all think of it...

i was wondering, with import clubs such as;

SAUWA

Antilag

SilviaWA

Perth-WRX

EvoOz

ETuned

AND WHATEVER OTHER CAR CLUBS ARE OUT THERE... (IMPORTS) do you think it would be an AWESOME or LAME idea to create a cruise and bring us all together...?

i'm sure everyone has positive and negatives comments with such a vague concept, and i'm sure some will debate that it's ridiculous because it would attract way too much attention from the police and general public... but if we all behave for the sake of one another i'm sure that there would be a wicked turnout and it would make for good video footage?

i'm thinking something similar to Breast Cancer Cruise / Ignition DVD Cruise turnout numbers / Easter Cruise '08 (MellowYellow organised)

also possibly an annual thing or something you know?

i only mentioned the car clubs above because they're the only ones i know that are strictly imports orientated...

has anyone got any ideas or input they can share, if such a concept can turn into reality we have all the time in the world to organise the cruise and with more minds makes an easier life and i'm sure that it would just be absolutely incredible to see such cars in force...

please, do share...

Andrew

Mate, thats a great idea. I'd be up for it for sure! Like you said, it would probs get a lot of attention from the po-po, but if everyone is well behaved, we should be fine.

Is Chosen Few an import club? Not sure. Might add that to the list

it will be another Iginition cruise like, cops block the exits, hand out yellows.

heaps of nice cars and there will always be one that wants to stand out of the crowd by doing a burnout or something.

so if it goes ahead, get all your permits ready...

Would be pretty awesome, but as viet_boi says... could be another ignition episode.

If you are planning this, give a lot of notice and plan it well with big car parks etc. Also, make sure the roads you cruise on are fairly open, not lots of twisties, cause with that many cars, its not the bests idea. These huge events are more about checking out all the cars at the meet points rather than cruising I reckon. Would be good though

lol Driven By Heels yeah they're all girls and we would need some of them wouldn't we?

i know they don't all drive imports though, another thing... Chosen Few, umm... quite disliked by most Import Car Clubs i'm sure as quite a few of their members are disrespectful of the roads in Perth...

i'm now seriously wondering what could possibly go wrong if there are no nutf*cks out to play on the night, but i guess with that many cars it would be ridiculously big...

i also wonder now that if there is enough notice and word of mouth some unwanted cars will come and nobody will be able to police the situation anyway... sh*t, i want this to go ahead so much though come on guys show your support and let's make this happen!!!

haha

When things get that big, its impossible to police it properly. Its sometime worth notifing the cops and tell them that you are organising it and you are promoting safe driving and telling everyone they have to follow the road rules etc. That way they shouldn't come down on everyone as hard, but rather just on the odd tool that is bound to turn up.

Whatever you do, do not make this happen before i put my 34 back on the road!!

But yeah, something that big would be sweet, although, i remember back to a massive cruise i got invited on with a mate, he got invited by one of the guys from chosen few, cruise was good till we hit kalumunda... about six guys went through before the rest of us, screaming through, so the cops were ready for the other 200 or so coming up the hill... basic gist was, go home cuz we dont want you here, or yellow licky time... so either way, heres what will happen, if you wanna finish the cruise, stay with the front pack, if your looking to get hassled by the coppers, stick with the people that drive sensibly! Either way, its a lose lose situation, but 9 times outta 10, well worth the effort... so yeah, ill be there!!

Just my piece though!!

Oh, and btw, this cruise im talkin about, had a turnout of around 250 - 300 cars... the whole underground and outside parking at city west was coated in cars!!

how about each club has a separate starting meet point...

and all cruise together at approximately the same distance away from the MAIN meet point...

then all the clubs mix together, check out all the cars... have a little pow wow and then all the clubs can go off on their separate ways and on their own little cruise

EXAMPLE: (i'm writing an example because i just read what i wrote above and i don't blame anyone if they get at least a TINY bit confused...)

6 meet points, 6 car clubs...

each car club meets at their OWN start point...

main meet being, for example; City West so we all cruise down from different directions to City West...

park with our respective clubs, everyone can go around and have a looksie and then whenever ready, each club can go off with their own separate maps and leave and different times so the attention isn't too obvious...

something like that, i don't know... seems to me that what's running through my head is a movie script from a tryhard Fast and Furious fan

help me fellas before i look like the biggest douche ever (if i don't already) haha

haha, douche

see, one of the things edwin knows is, its not how you stand by your car, its how you race your car!

Nigga das whii i aint get none, cuz edwin dont know sh1t!! oh yoo caint have deez tittie pow ows yo!!

:D i dunno, random outburst, i hate ja rule!!

Teehee!

Andrew I like your idea about each club cruises to the one meet point in their own route. :P

Our club is strictly imports only. We're still quite new but we get around 50+ cars on each cruise. I wouldnt say we're comparable to SAU and Antilag, but hey we'll get there.

We're definitely down if need another import club involved. Have it some time early June, the best cruises are ones that a planned well in advance. :)

Bets way to do it is to take down everyone's number plate and then if the cops ask who has done any burnouts or standstills or something, hand their arse over on a plate...

I shat myself at the recent cruise that got hijacked at leach hwy maccas... I mean I've got a record, and I've been very well behaved since I've got my Skyline/licence back....

Last thing I need/want is a copper probing me with difficult questions and asking if I've got any 'previous misdemeanors'..

I was going to suggest the same thing as fei-sti wrx. At least then if the main meet point does get closed off by the cops (annoys me so much surely they can't do that without the carpark owner's permission as it is private property?) we could at least of had some sort of cruise that day/night so it isn't a complete waste of time.

i think its a good idea

but will take a LOT of planning to get it to work well

will need to have discussions on all different forums etc

need to give people advance warning about when its happening so we can get a good turn out

itll take a while but i think it will be worth it.

Maybe we can prempt the cops by blocking them in the cop-shop car park!! lolz...

    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
