Hi all,

I'll be needing to get an alarm installed when my car arrives. Can anyone recommend a good alarm installer around the inner south of melbourne?

I'm looking at having a Hornet 727T installed to be able to use my OEM key. They would need experience installing into a CAN bus vehicle

Approx pricing would be useful too.

Thanks,

-Max.

Join SAU... Then get cheap installs via a mate of mine who is a club sponsor/supporter :)

He's been in the business for 8-10 years so i reckon he should be right.

Although he is in Deer Park, but the $$ saving is worth it IMO

When your a SAU member how much does he charge? Looking to get a Mongoose M80 or M80G installed when i buy one soon..

Thanks

He supplies and fits his own ADR alarm which has many features, and its less than $350 total.

IMO its not worth the massive $$$ systems, an alarm is ONLY as good as the guy installing it in terms of security and the ability for it to be bypassed etc.

A poor install with a good alarm is easier to steal and a cheaper alarm installed brilliantly :domokun:

For that reason I can recommend stylyn www.stylyn.com

I don't know if they can do what was requested in the original post, but they know their shit when it comes to car alarms. Will cost a bit more than the sponsor special in the vic section (and I can't compare the two, I've only been to stylyn). I payed $549 for Mongoose M80AU installed with certificate etc.

Phat Audio Concepts in braeside ... getting my alarm installed in a week there wif a few goodies as extra deterents .. there a top bunch of guys.. quite down 2 earth and reasonable wif prices. they install alarms from a old claped out capri to new model lambos ...

Im getting a clifford alarm installed with window lift.. no auto engine start as i didnt want it... and im also getting a secondary screamer alarm which is hidden within the interior of the car somewhere with a seperate kill switch.. basically its a deterent to make a thief go deaf if he manages to get into the car....all up im paying $850 which isnt cheap but i want it done right first time.. consider what you pay for your car... its not much 2 have that added feeling of security

But basically they can cater for anyones budget.. give em a call 9580 1282 and ask for Brett as he is the alarm installer

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
