Im posting this thread for everyone's knowledge on what parts to achieve what horsepower on a RB25DET since ive searched on the forum for PROCAMS and nothing came out.

So here it goes..

Ive waited 3 months for parts and headwork on my Skyline R33 RB25DET.

Currently its in a process of installing all the parts in.. finally.

Parts loaded was :

1. TOMEI PROCAMS 260 degree 10.25mm lift exhaust and intake

2. TOMEI Cam Gears

3. TOMEI 10.25 Lift Type B Valve Springs

4. TOMEI Solid Lifters

5. TOMEI Adjust Shims

6. COMETIC 1.3mm x 2 Layers

7. GARRETT GT35R Ported Shroud .82

8. Top Mount Ex. Manifold

9. TIAL 43mm Wastegate

10. HKS Type R 600x255.6x103 Intercooler

Was getting 192kw on wheels before this with stock internals.

Just a Apexi PFC, HKS 2540 Turbo, HKS Oil Cooler, HKS Intercooler (Type S), Greddy Boost Controller and Minor Upgrades.

Will keep this thread posted once the car is running and dynoed with the new parts installed. Car will be out this week. I hope...

Cheers!

hey guys,

Just got the car this weekend. Car is slightly tuned for road drivability.. Havent got the time to do a full tune atm.

For the solid lifters conversion, its pretty tedious work. Shims have to be added and measured.

Im totally unsure about what CR my car is running. The car started up alright. Nice idle and timing is great. When revving, the sound is awesome!

On higher RPM it sounds sharper, no joke but it sounds close to a Ferrari. =)

Im worried my oil pump will give way one day but will change it soon to accomadate the revs.

The turbine spools great. I just dont know how to put everything together. But everything just sound crazy guys!! The turbine has a pretty much like an aircraft spooling sound.

Hope to get my car tune tommorrow and will post up the numbers soon! Keep watching guys!

Cheers!

I can feel boost coming from 3300 rpm onwards.

No lag, nothing. Its insane to hear the turbo spools and the power is just crazy.

The turbo is a Garrett GT35R with ported shroud. I was worried when i installed the turbo because of lag.

But everything is going on well.

i am looking at doing the cams on my rb25det and cannot find anything at all....so this is really handy cheers mate

hey Krishy,

For Poncams is just plug and play.

I will recommend Poncams. Safe the hassle and money!

what you mean by ported shroud? Im assuming modified comp cover? And this gives hks spooling sound?

Did you ever get this tuned??? Am looking into bigger cams and solid lifter conversion at the moment.

Have Tomei 256 cams already. And have just has some issues on the tune with my 25/30 and had a rattle thru the top end after a few power runs @ 8200rpm.

What is the cost for a solid lifter setup???

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
