Itching to get the GTR out on the track again and thought I would head out on Saturday the 31st to get some more laps in after some 'changes' of late to the beast. I think entry is $100 plus $25 if you need a day licence - might be the last chance to get out there before the real winter weather sets in? Anyone else want to come out and exercise your 'line in their natural environment?

Here is the info from Mallala Motorsport Park website:

Mallala Practice day regs

Pretty much just need an approved helmet and long pants / long sleeves. I would recommend an extinguisher in car as well.

what club is this with? im keen...

This is a regular practice day for cars organised by Mallala Motorsport Park itself - haven't been for awhile but I believe it is pretty much an open track situation, and you could be on track with other competition cars of varying calibre, although there is no reason or requirement to 'race' these guys or each other, you can track at your own pace.

if my pay rise from work comes through before this rolls around might bring the 31 out for something different and see how it handles in a straight line. will wait and see if work get their ass in gear.

I'd do it, but I'm a truly shithouse driver. I'd go to watch tho :P

what better way to do it than on the track!! Only one way to learn how attessa works under hard cornering.......

yeah but u know, when i drive hard, i drive without trousers. that kinda vetos the lala rule about long legs, cause if the nuts aint breezy, then dohmar aint driftin fo sheezy...

These days are good to get a taste of what its like to drive around mallala.

Practice days can get very congested though and you can end up with very little track time.

Although if you get a day that not many people turn up you get more track time than the car can handle.

Also they will not let you drift at all if the officials see you drifting they will boot you off quick smart. Drift practice is usually held afterwards anyway.

All you guys that have a CAMS licence and have a bit of experience should really come and try the collingrove hillclimb on the 25th may. It is is no way grueling on the car and will be a good warm up for the practice day.

do Mallala run grip days in the wet? (yes I realise that's a bit of a paradox :P)

I'd be keen for a grip day or 2 when I can afford it, which won't be until midway through winter when it will probably be pretty rainy. If theres no grip days run in this time then looks like I'll be out for skids prac days instead.

hi everyone~!

i might be pretty keen as it sound like a fun day. i have never been on a track and don't have any sort of special licence apart from normal SA licence.... Can i still join in and have a drive on the track?

another thing is, if i end up getting on the track, what are the essential things that the car needs to be preped with? (with budget in mind...) My 33 is pretty much stock with filter and exhust...

cheers~

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
