Why Go From A 20 To 25

Recommended Posts

come on roy boy..

don't bring motorsport in to it.

racing prepared car compared to street car is silly.

You'll agree that a run of the mill VL flexidore is a useless chassis in comparison to an R32 gtst.

possibly good for straight line..

but turning is not it's forte.

the reason ppls skylines handle awsome is cause jap ppl put coil overs n shit n do the suspension rite up, were as commodore nutz suspension aint that high on the list of todo things commpaired to fully hektic sterios n 20 inch mags....... lol

wat basis do u have for a vl chassic is crap commpaided to a r32.... wats to say my standard rb20 vl wouldnt be as fast around the track if i had coilovers n everything the skyline guys bolt on to there cars lol.....

i think the gtr's won in 90 roy with skafie/richards driving, i dont think the group A/walkinshaw won bathurst

skylines chassis would be a better design/stiffer. i say would be as obviously its a bit hard to do back to back testing, but theres been heaps of cases where VL's have run 11's (some faster/some slower) and you cant open the back doors for like half an hour after the run lol

as above..

the VL chassis is not stiff or re-enforced in any way.

how else do you think your LARGER car weighs 100kg less?

also, VL brakes are pretty good.. when they are bolted to a ford laser.

on the VL they are useless.

so these are some of the reasons why a regular VL would be slower on a circuit than a regular R32 GTST

VL turbo brakes are decent enough for a car of its weight. But yes the VL chassis / suspension isnt briliant. But there is plenty of aftermarket parts that will sort that out. Also, comparing a VL to an R32 is a bit rough, its more equitable to an R31. Then again the bulk of the car is dated back to the VB, so other then some small tweaks you woudl have to say the suspension wasnt all that bad, no doubt it aged quickly towards the lates 80s.

There is a VL running around doing track days in Vic with a few guys running VBs and VHs. Considering they only have about 300hp at the engine they are doing damn good times.

Point is they are not that bad you can categorically write them off

caint argue with vl brakes being bad lol i call em flintstone breaks LOL..\

titan was talking about why diddnt nissan bring out rb30et's factory... 2 big capacity or something (shrugs)

ive only driven a couple of skylines n neva got to really give 1 a good driving but i giv my vl flogs n it handles good IMO but it does have pedders spring shocks panhard rod strut braces nolethane bushes.. some1 take me for a rap in there skyline with collies
