skybt1
i had to customise engine mounts and gearbox mount for it to fit with clearance everywhere. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/220604-r30/#findComment-3890965 Share on other sites
blind_elk
What about a L28 ex 280ZX? To fit a RB, I'm told that all that is required is a R31 cross-member. You might need a custom gearbox cross-member. Ghostrider
79 on 280ZX was EFI in Oz and if your looking at n/a, the best bits are N42, but the block has to be modified to front sump as all zeds are rear sump pans. Don't be fooled, the old L28, makes good power if modified a bit. A stock RB30E is rated at 114kW at the fly and an L28E is rated at about 103kW so there isn't heaps in it. skybt1
RB bolts straight onto r30 crossmember wit RB mounts. no probs. hardest thing is gearbox mount.... then tailshaft.... This is true, but there is no clearance from the sump to the x-member. Thats what i had found in my case. So you can do it this way, it does work, but no one will engineer it. So technically you will never be able to register that car. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/220604-r30/#findComment-3898487 Share on other sites

Ghostrider
In NSW NOT A CHANCE! Any idiot can BUY a blue or pink slip, but I think you will hit a snag at the RTA but in any case, if head office happen to screen it they can recall for inspection or just cancel the rego altogether. Your call? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/220604-r30/#findComment-3898867 Share on other sites

Ghostrider
No Hi Horse this time ............................ just quoting FACT! but obviously it's not the answer you were looking for. Before I answered you before I consulted an old business associate, he is a current RTA registered examination/inspection station and was an RTA examiner before that, so I guess he should know his stuff when it comes to NSW registration. They (RTA) have all the books for all the models and what is or isn't or was or wasn't fitted to the car, but, as I guess you know everything so do as you please. JFYI, what happens when you have an accident & maybe injure or kill someone with your DODGY registered car and you are sewed for damages by the CTP insurance company??????? You would need millions behind you as any insurance would become null & void when they find your car is illegal. But you know all the answers eh! and it will never happen to you? ha ha ha ha, go and grow up!
