Mate i think you need to read the whole thread. Nearly all of your questions have already been answered there.

I will admit however that the immobiliser is a good point. Worth a look if there is one fitted.

DONE! :)

If only i removed the plugs the proper way instead of removing the coils and leaving the rail and harness intact.

IT WAS THE STUPID EARTH CABLE! 1 of the 2 was cut.

After getting new o rings, put the rail and everything back together. tried to start, nothing.

Went through the steps for the sparks, no spark, i thought it must have been the harness, took the coil harness of, in the process when moving the earth cable, i noticed only one was still intact.

Ran to the back, ripped out another harness, plugged it in.

key in, turn, start within 1 second.

Sigh and many CHEERS!!!!

Thanks alot to all the input.

I guess it was the car telling me to give it a service, new plugs and o rings.

Thanks again.

Tomorrow. and for the next few weeks, i'll be driving it ;)

Ah Geez.

I think there is a ghost in the car and it doesn't want me to drive it.

After i changed the o ring on the injector that was leaking petrol.

I put it all back togethere and then let it run for about 10mins.

reversed out of driveway, noticed a bit of liquid on the driveway.

Checked, another injector was leaking.

This morning, got the rail out changed all o-rings, reconnected everything, turned the key for the petrol pump then checked to see if the injectors were OK. All good, but the stupid speedflow/earl fittings from the fpr was leaking. Tried to fix that, for some reason it was shreaded like no other. thats why it was leaking, ah well, ran back got another set, connected that.

NOW!. At idle the engine isn't stable and to me the engine sounds a bit funny along the fuel rail side.

The rpms are over 1k but every few seconds move to like 1.1 or 1.2 it just keeps doing that its like up and down up and down.

Above 2-3k rpm its smooth and just like normal.

but sometimes when i let go of the pedal, at about 1.8k - 2.0k it just just hangs there :S and slowly i mean real slow, comes down.

Any ideas guys? Thanks for the help so far.

Could it be the injectors?

clogged fuel rail o.O ?

Do the speedlow fittings have a direction of flow? Like are some ment to go out only and some ment to go in only? (fuel flows into rail, fuel flows out of rail)

Could i have done something accidentally while pulling and out the injectors?

take it all apart and put together carefully again?

Ghost Car i swear, it doesn't like me anymore

I'll film what the problem is when i get the chance.

Its sucking air through the injector bosses...have you used genuine injector insulators (neoprene ring on bottom of injectors) as the aftermarket ones i once tried did the same thing as what you are describing. Genuine ones have a more rounded edge on them and the aftermarket ones have a squarer edge and dont seal as well. Try reseating them with a spray of silicon lube as this may seal them.

I'm using aftermarket O-rings that actually go into the rail but the much thicker insulator below that goes into the engine is genuine (i think, unless changed earlier), i didn't change them, they were fine.

Hmms.

Could it possibly be a bad fuel pressure?

Should i connect the fuel pressure gauge and see?

Just check that the injectors are seated properly in the insulators at the bottom. You may need to remove them all and refit it all again with some lube on the injector pintle caps and on the insulators. Or if you wanna go all out buy a set of genuine insulators. Gimme your VIN for genuine part number. As mentioned the air leak will cause surging and high idle etc.

  • 4 weeks later...

Did you fix the problem at all ?

I have a similar starting problem on my R32GTR.

So far I've tried :

New battery

New plugs

New fuel filter

New 044 pump

New adjustable pressure reg

Another ECU

Another set of coils

Another CAS

Cleaned AFM's

The car now generally starts after a couple of seconds of cranking but if you stall it within a few minutes of startup it won't re-start. To get it to start after a stall I've found the best method is :

Pull the fuel pump fuse

Crank for a few seconds

Replace fuse

Crank again

and then it generally starts ok.

The car idles at about 1000 rpm when warm nd there are no error codes on the ECU. Annoying problem

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
