Hey,

I was just defected this morning on the way back home to sleep.

Police officer added "You and your mates must be really unhappy with us defecting your little drifting event, we must have got 50 cars..."

Dunno what he was talking about, but i guess hes still feeling some sort of pump from defecting a lot of imports.

I have the following:

Front mount intercooler (cut hole through side)

Blow off valve (atmostpheric)

Greddy front strut brace

Boost controller

black steel intake pipe.

Turbo (hiflow).

What would I need to do to change them?

Any input?

In response to his comment I would of said no i am on my way home from work.

You will need to bugger off ya blow off valve.

Strut brace (prob wouldnt get told off for it but still its an A/M item so bugger that off.

Boost COntroller.

High Flowed turbo will be no issues if it's just the RB25 turbo highflowed. As there is nothing changed on the outside of the turbo.

With the FMIC have you cut up your reo bar at all? if so that may fail you. And the hole on the side just get some vac hose slice it down the middle and put that around the hole you cut for your pipe.

And I would take the induction pipe off aswell just incase.

And anything else you have done to your car

I also have the car lowered, and I have 18x9 and 18x8 rims on the car. on TOP of that, i lost my f**king wheel lock nut key and I have to get a new one from Tyrepower Adelaide.

Apart from that, the exhaust aswell, 5Zigen system.

Its gonna be a long 3 weeks i reckon.

the fmic should be fine unless you've cut the reo like someone else has said! and i've also done the hose thing! i got through so there's no reason why you shouldn't with that

with the bov if you still have the standard one get it back on! i put mine on my intercooler piping and they've so far been cool with it!

i never knew strut braces were illegal! if so then the po po have been letting it pass

don't know about the boost cont! (if it's a manual or electronic one) but the intake i've got stock air box and stuff if that'll help!

as for the turbo! i think my workshop still has one of my standard r33 turbo's!

he would have been talking about the defect station they had set up out the front of mallala last weekend.

just goes to show they are more intesested in working AGAINST us rather than with us to make the streets a safer place.

having a station set up out the front of an event like that is like taking candy froma baby for them,

then bragging about it....just lame :woot:

why did you get pulled over pauly? were you driving like a ratbag?

you'll probably need to do everything that Brenton mentioned in his above post.

i dont reckon you need worry about the rims, they'll just check that your tyres have a decent amount of tread.

And even your exhaust... if you can cheekily shut it up so its under 90dB at around 3500rpm, they should pass it.

True. When they target events designed to keep the heat off the street, then they bring the heat to you, thats lame and bloody weak of them. Next, people are going to avoid these 'legal' off street events and take it onto the streets, because the cops will be targetting events such as this.

On the other side of the coin, we do have alot of import car drivers to blame for such attention. Obviously the police are doing anythying, right or wrong, to get their message across.

:)

nah ive got a clearence from the sturt police station to drive the car while on defect. theres a small part on the back of the defect paper at the bottom that will grant you clearence to drive till your regency date. ive got mine under the defect sticker.

also Tangles, when i was getting defected, they pulled in a creamy stagea and defected him too and that looked pretty stock :D

    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity.
    • 100% the factory sender is tapered, that is how it seals (well, that and teflon paste or tape)
    • Thanks folks - I've saved a few links and I'll have to think of potential cable/adapters/buying fittings. First step will be seeing if I can turn the curren abortion of a port into something usable, then get all BSPT'y on it. I did attempt to look at the OEM sender male end to see if it IS tapered because as mentioned you should be able to tell by looking at it... well, I don't know if I can. If I had to guess it looks like *maybe* 0.25 of a mm skinnier at the bottom of the thread compared to where the thread starts. So if it is tapered it's pretty slight - Or all the examples of BSPT vs BSPP are exaggerated for effect in their taper size.
    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
