No offence or anything, but how do you tell if its a fake or not? Besides how sharp it is. Ive heard if its of good quality it should balance perfectly at the hilt?

I collect swords myself and I've got a few in my collection. I've also got some books on the anatomy of a katana. From the pics it looks real. The sharpening of the blade looks authentic, but in today's society it can be copied. Sorry, just stating facts. Most sword makers stamp their name on the inside of the blade under the handle. But that requires dismantling of the sword to prove. Despite my knowledge, I personally wouldn't trust myself disassembling/assembling one, if it is the real deal.

GTR32X, did you import the sword as a live blade, or blunt. The sharpening of the sword will be one of the key factors in its true value. Can you provide more detailed pics of the handle, hilt work, the scabbard, the very tip of the sword, and the sword maker's logo. I could trace its origins and help you prove authentication.

:D

no ones interested in this fine sword

You're advertising in the wrong area for this dude. Too many immature kids here who shouldn't have themselves a butter knife let alone a sword.

I'd love to buy it myself, but I'd need to free up some cash (too many investments right now). If its not sold by late July/early August, I'd love to view and inspect it myself, and I'd be keen to purchase! I'm quite serious if its real. I'll fly over just to see it.

I've got two katanas which I keep hidden away. One is live and the other had been bluntened for importing (I brought this one back myself 9 years ago). It was a shame to see a beautiful sword blunted. The 'live' blade I had imported thru my Shihan. A 3rd authentic sword would compliment my collection. I've also got an authentic set of nunchaku, sai and kali sticks. None of those cheap martial art shop copies!

i have a real one but its smaller cost me 1800 and its that sharp that when it fell of the top of the cupbord it landed point fists into the table under it and was stuck there and this table is a inch thick

What you have then sounds like a Wakizashi, not a Katana. Although that sounds a tad expensive for even a Wakizashi.

A Tanto is a very short sword (like an assasins dagger).

Basically a Katana is approx 40 inches, a Wakizashi is 25 inches, and Tanto is 14 inches.

Samurai would wear the Katana and Wakizashi on their hip, and have the Tanto concealed for close combat ... or to commit Sepuku!

Got pics?

Too much Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for you.

After you get your Tax return?

no i was in Japan and bought it as a live blade

i never ever got it sharpened

but i will post more pics up

Sweet.

I lived in Japan for a bit and brought back a few items :P Got an authentic Japanese doll too for the (ex)wife that beats the crap they pass off as authentic here. Wish I'd kept the bloody thing instead of letting the ex take it.

If you ever wanna check out the history of some samurai's and a musuem for swords, pay Miyazaki and Takanabe a visit on the Kyushu island. Very interesting stuff :P

Guys to be honest i dont know too much about Samurai's and so forth but i all i knew was that i wasnt a real one not a fake shit one!

So when i was in Tokyo i asked around and went to a few shops but they all seemed abit crap.

But when i went to this Particular shop (Japanese Sword Shop) in Tokyo it was a genunie Samurai shop.

They had sword that had been used by Emporors for $50,000.

Never knew swords could cost so much!!!

I kept on asking if i get a guy to put his hand out and i slice it down would it chop it off.

He looked at me funny but said YES YES VERY SHARP.

Also he told me never to hold the blade with my hand as sweat can go on the blade and mark it.

If not tonight maybe tomorrow will post up more pics.

This is turning into a somewhat of a Carmen Sandiego mystery thread. I'm enjoying hearing the knowledge out there on this. If there's one thing the Japs know it's precision. I'd love to see this sword cut something in half......

just wonderng. i heard that the real swords have a "Blood Track" to allow the blood so flow down and out the blade. ( once inserted into someone ofcourse lol) is that a tru fact and does this sword have it or is that just a dumb rumor i heard.

Is it spring steel ?

Have you tried bending the blade to see if it folds or springs back.

I dont supose you would be interested in swapping it for an R33 full 6point rollcage, but i dont know if it fits an r34 though..

I also have a HPI Nitro remote controlled R34 car that i paid over $1000 all up for that i have the receipt still for that i'll through in also ..

Damn i love swords, i watched a making of them also, i spun out when i seen that the curve of the blade comes naturaly when cooled ..

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
