Heyas

I've been to more than a few meets. and I have to ask.

Why are people so unkind?

No, really. I walk around the meets with a grin on my grille, introduce myself and start talking about shite. How come so many of u guys are hands-in-pocket type lookin-at-tarmac type non mingling elitist mf's ?

Seriously. It shits me. I dont go to these meets to say howdy to people and get the same sorta response that I might get if I try to teach my labrador a card trick. Sure shes looking at me but what the frig, is there any activity in the brain? Crikey.

All I'm asking guys, is that u take the cork out of your arse and say hello to people u dont know. Mingle a bit. Lifes to short.

K. Thx. Bai.

Laik. Dohmar.

dont feel no love from the sau crew hey not all people find it easy to go up and speak to someone they dont know ive had the same thing happen to me but there are also some people on here that are willing to talk think it all comes down to how we all feel on the night

haha little random but ok. I know what you mean though at meet ups people tend to chill by them selves or in there own little groups etc. Each to there own though, If you cant spark up a convo with one person just walk along to the next, lol. You drive a white R32 GTR like myself so I'll make sure to introduce myself at the next meet.

hey its the car scene, people like to bitch/complain, be anit-social, think they are better than other people, who cares, just find the guys who are nice to chat to and make new friends. and i think a lot of people are shy with the car scene and duno what to say about what. introduce urself first to the people hands in pockets and they will probably chat. if not rip a skid

Yeah I wouldn't read too much into it Ben......I think some of the younger ones might be a bit shy. I get on with some folk better than others and sometimes I'm guilty of not spreading myself around so I hope no one takes it wrong and thinks that I'm not approachable.......come and say hi peeps, I won't tear your head off, lol.

last night was too cold to be sociable lol, i stood there trying not to freeze, still chatted to people i had no idea who they were, but agreed, were all there for the same reason, i normally chat to people when im out there, if i know them or not, if someone comes upto me i'll definately have a convo with them.

hate that shit! on the first cruise i only met a few guys! but most people were like look at me and i look back and they turn and go a different direction! what's wrong? do i really look that dodgey?

anyway Pete! as for you, you're big and was wearing a harley davison tshirt and rocked up in a mint chopper just spelt bikie to me! not insulting you in anyway but it was just my ignorant judgement but it still didn't stop me from saying gday

Ben, I've had the same experiences some times, but it takes all kinds. Most are friendly, but just take a while to warm up. I put it down in part to the fact that I am so much older than many o0f you guys, but those who have had a chat probably realise I am the biggest kid out there and they are much more mature than me.

My other theory is that if we had social skills we would have girlfriends rather than cars. LOL

That's sad, going to a meet where every one stands around and nobody actually meets.

Sadly I think it's a side effect of the playstation generation, when I was young we all played in the streets or parks and knew every kid in the estate. It was a very social upbringing, with the generations coming through today a lot of them don't have the social skills.. reason being social skill are learnt through social interaction and become natural/comfortable over time. You don't get it free in the ps3 bundle, p.c or sitting alone in a room chatting online. As you've seen first hand, throw them in a social situation and they'll all just mill around until something happens....which seldom does.

We've bred a generation of malformed/unadjusted nublets.

Offer you're hand to shake and they'll take it as some sort of adversarial test.

Don't get me wrong there are a lot of good-social younger people, they seem to be the ones who's parent/s actually had a go at parenting instead of leaving it up to the TV/ps3.

I think its more of a case that people lack the confidence to just approach a group and introduce themselves. I know i do, its no crime. Its just how i am.

I did recognise alot of cars, i saw yours just before we were about to leave Dohmar, but no-one was next to the car, otherwise i would have come introduced myself. Next time, ill bring my "Hello my name is stickers" to make it easier for everyone :(

if i ever make it out to one of the meets again, ill talk to ya dude!!

ive met heaps of cool people off here, havent met one bad one yet and plenty of people willing to talk about cars or just random crap.

Oh yeah I'll still go to the meets and that. I just think people need to loosen up and lrn2party... I was the bloke in the black coat incidentally, and while I spoke to some cool people I'm more talking about people hanging around in little grps. And of course the ones lacking in confidence *shrug* I'm not going to eat your brains or anything...

damo this calls for some drastic measures!!! "hello my name is" name tags!!!!

I have them here all printed and ready to go. I didnt think the turnout was gonna be that big tho! Thats why i didnt take them with me last night.

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
