Without the ability to select different maps to suit the different fuel types (differing burn rates / RON) the ONLY way you can make a difference is via handset tuning changes (+ timing or - timing as req'd) or physically moving the CAS.

I doubt wreckhead has the ability to change the maps himself with the power fc once he put the pulp in. Or there was no mention of a retune with the 98.

So either hes engine was pinging like crazy with the 98 ron or when tuned on c16 they did not tune it properly and to the limit.

What are a pair of 17 inch nittos worth these days? I will be in the market for some in the next few weeks

my god Merli and inasnt, really but who cares if it was tuned back on 98 ron or left on c16, maps or no maps, timing or no timing. its my car my problem, i dont know why your so worried about it, if you are call c and v and ask them.

Who cares??!?!? Well obviously *WE* care.

- Because I don't like being fed absolutely bullshit and garbage.

- Because others might come in here and think that they can also run their car with PULP on a C16 tune.

- Because we're interested in what you actually did? We're here to share information about our experiences and knowledge, not to blatantly LIE or decieve each other about what we've done.

- Because I'm GENUINELY interested in knowing whether you were able to tune the car for C16 fuel and run it with PULP at full noise and not grenade your motor.

Is that reason enough? When are you going to cut the BULLSHIT and tell us what's really going on? If you actually tell us the truth, perhaps we can learn something here.

... and if you're lying like I think you are,WHY ARE YOU LYING TO A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET??? Are you really that much of an attention whore that you have to lie to strangers on the internet to gain respect?

What do I think?

I think:

1. You either ran C16 this past Wednesday and lied about running PULP just so your time would be entered in the database.

2. You never ran C16 at all (doubtful, I know)

3. You don't really know anything about cars or tuning and just bought a built R32 GTR and are trying to gain credibility from it.

I think it's a combination of 1 and 3.... Please prove me wrong, and stop with the bullshit replies that don't answer any of our questions.

Just explain how you managed to run C16 one week and get 120mph and then run the SAME TUNE with PULP and also get 120mph the following week. I am 100% honestly interested, and I might learn something from you.

my god merli if it was that important to you i would have told you, my car was tuned on c16 by c&v it wasnt an aggressive tune so i assumed that the c16 i had in my tank, which is about 5 litres or so, and the 10 or so litres of pulp i used would act like a booster to the 98 ron making it hopefully like 100ron or so. i ran the car at full throttle down the track, with a 8500 launch, felt a little flutery but i didnt hear any pinging( detonation). im not hear to lie to anyone or proove to anyone that my car is a machine, 2rismo was there and he smelt the exhasut and he even saw it wasnt on c16 fuel, and also i ran the same time, this week as last week casue, last week i had to much wheel spin and this week i think i got the power to the ground, so if you think im lieing its cool i dont mind, i dont want to give you the wrong impression, but you can asl adrian or buster, they were with me, another thing if you are getting your car tuned on c16 ask if its gonna be at its peak or not as aggressive, casue i wouldnt recommend using pulp with a c16 unless you know you can afford to rebuild you motor, and please merli dont go thinking im some hero or something casue i can afford to build my motor casue if you want a fast car you have to be able to afford to fix it in case of things like rebuilds. amen to that.

Thank you for the genuine answer!! ............Finally :)

Can I ask though, why you would get the car tuned for C16 but not tuned optimally? If you were to get it tuned for C16, you could advance the ignition timing a LOT and gain a lot more response and power.... Might even add 2-4mph to your time!! What I'm saying, is that if people are getting their car tuned for C16, it's for the drags and ONLY for the drags and they tune it to the limit (or a tiny bit below)... I've never heard of a C16 tune that you could actually use PULP with... It kinda defeats the purpose of tuning for C16!!! Do you understand where I'm coming from?

If you wanted to be able to run your car on PULP, with the occasional run on C16, it's best to get it tuned on PULP... The way you did it was very iffy... What if you didn't have enough C16 in the tank to raise the octane enough? And what about now when you have no C16 left? Are you going to constantly raise the octane level of every tankful of petrol you use?

Oh, and I was drunk last night when I typed that reply above... Thanks for taking it like a champ :D

i never wanted an aggressive tune on c16, i just wanted to see what time i could run my car as near as a daily driver as possible, becasue i know c16 is expensive and cant drive it evryday on it, but bp100 fuel is only $60 for 20l, so i can drive it on that with the same tune daily.

Noticed that the "1/4 mile time honour roll' hasn't been updated in awhile so took it upon myself to create this list.

* This list is for Skyline models only.

* Please PM me your details to keep the thread clean:

- Car Model

- 60ft time

- TS

- 1/4 Time

- Tyre size (eg; 225/50/16)

- Tyre Pressure (eg; 36psi)

- Tyre Brand/model (eg; Nitto NT555R)

- Fuel Type used (eg; BP Ultimate, Optimax, etc)

* 1/4 Times are for 'you' and 'your' car only.

* NO slick tyres.

* Must be using PULP.

* Timeslips are not required but preferred.

The 1/4 Times are located at: http://skylines.pnc.com.au (click on the link located in the middle at the top). This URL can be bookmarked but dont bookmark the actual "times" list as that will change on every update.

PS. Read the instructions above, then re-read them again.

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
