My electric mirror adjustment isnt working on the right side. After some investigation i found there is a damaged wire going from the switch to the mirror motor. The mirror plug has 5 wires. The one i found to be damaged is the Purple wire with a Black trace. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? Is it more likely to be the plug in the door jam. Also is there an easier way to access the plug/loom in the foot well/door jam? It is incredibly difficult to get to.

i never had a skyline mirror apart but electric mirrors have 2 small electric motors one for in -out other for up-down .

u take the mirror off the car and take it apart then u'll see them they are very small . sometimes they have bad connection , check that spray some wd40 and test the motors on a 12 volt battery if they work then look for damaged wires .

its not hard to remove look under the mirror it should have 2-3 bolts undo them and its out but u may have to undo the bolts inside the car as well not sure but take the little trim off on the inside and see there should be 2- 3 there as well .

You have to take the whole door trim off to get to the plug, that isnt difficult though.

  • 11 months later...

has any of you guys solved this problem since last year?

My driver side had problem now... the up/down left/right adjustment is fine, but the mirror only wanna fold in with a click click and slight delay compared to the left one, and once it folds in it doesn't want to fold out anymore..

from those wire colours above, has anyone figure out which wire colour for which function?

  • 4 weeks later...

the 2 black wires on the mirror make it fold in and out, it has its own plug that goes behind the door trim. There are another 5 wires that do something with the mirror, theres blue, purple, yellow, pink and orange. I have no idea what wires for what.

My stock mirrors both sides only move in 2 directions - down and left, it should go up down left and right.

I took the mirror off and sprayed the motor with WD40 stuff and it made no diff at all.

I wanted to hook up a new set of aftermarket mirrors but they only have 3 wires, so I hooked them up to the matching colour and the mirrors only moved up and down, I decided to join another wire up and see if it made a diff, it just blew a fuse.

Any idea on both my problems?????

ok i had exactly the same problem as you drivers side up down left right is fine just click click click and wont move in or out, im an electronics technician so i pulled it apart all the voltages were fine so its not an electrical prob i rang up just jap in syd and they the first thing to go on skylines is always drivers side electric window and electric mirrors. i couldnt find anything wrong so i just bought a new mirror and it goes fine. but if you dont care about the in out thing just leave it out.

Hey

Dont really know, only noticed it when I tryed to install aftermarket mirrors which I didnt end up doing as they didnt fit :)

When the mirrors are out the move only 2 directions, when I fold them in the move the other 2 directions but still only move in 2 directions. Also when they are out when I try to move the mirrors sometimes they move ok but sometimes the click when they are trying to move.

When you said it might be the switch, did you mean the whole door bit or just the mirror control that you pop out by itself???

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
