For what? Drag racing??

A T88 is a laggy, plain-bearing, straight-line turbo.

T88 is my fav all time turbo i have T88-33dand T88H-38GK

i bought another gt-r now so im looking for a t88h or a 34d...

Believe it or not but i have had T88's come on at 4900rpm and croydon i believe can get them on lower! Now to me thats not laggy!! just doesn't have a neat power band!!! considering even 'big' low mounts arn't on full boost by around then?

i just love T88's at the end of the day lol

They've all gone to the museum.

Looks like you might have to change your forum name.

If you want something similar ie. 800-1000hp from the garrett stable, a GT51R is the way to go. You can get them for around $2400 or less and it will definately have more response than that T88.

lol

low-mounts will have boost before 4000rpm

look- B.S.T's are unbeatable for budget outright power and drag-racing, but low-mounts pwn for throttle repsonse.

they aren't responsive because they're low mounted.

Once you go over 350awkw....a big single is more responsive than the twin setup if you correctly match everything

Museum hahahaha

Nah honestly guys There are a million new designed turbo's that are prob better for response etc...But as i said T88 is always my decision, I honestly cant seem to find one in Australia atm!!! Where r they hiding!!!

surely someone must wanna sell there turbo to me :D

Ball bearing is the last thing i worry about. The wheel sizes and trim alongside with the housing sizes play a far bigger role.

Its funny because all Trust turbos were much maligned a few years back. Then a few people get results with them then all of a sudden for some engine packages they are a highly recommended turbo.

You only have to look at the number of crazy fast GTRs at the strip and circuit in Japan to realise that the T88 cannot be that bad a thing when put on a built engine. The right gearbox nehind them makes it an even more attractive option.

I dont agree with what all Japanese tuners do, but the mass of them using the T88 over the likes of the T51 tells me that even though we dotn like them locally they have to have some sort of benefit. Woudl love to see a T51 vs T88 comparison on teh same engine but who has that sort of money :D

I will be running a Trust 6speed gearbox with it so the ratio's in that box are awesome for the turbo, Im just happy someone out there knows why i stick with the T88 turbo....

Once i get my hands on another T88 and tune it i will post up dyno graph's to show when it does come on :) Then ppl can see there not such a grumpy old turbo! lol....

BUT STILL CANT FIND ONE!!!!!

ive got a t88-33d here ready to go on my RB30, cant wait to get it all done :)

Good stuff man make sure u try match it with a trust Type-r gate...The sound from that gate is unbeatable lol

T88-34d here.

I had mine reconditioned and Replaced both impeller & exhaust blades with GT42 (i think) items, machined the housings to suit...runs like a champ!

BULLSHIT if you look at many of the big name jap cars they are using T88-38GK's the new versions over the T51R.... more response.

T88 ON BOARD if you get stuck i can get one over in a heartbeat.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
