Hey guys,

Recently picked some gauges up. Oil Pressure, Water temp and Boost gauge.

Ive searched and got a DIY for the boost gauge which seems easy enough. So im kind of looking for info in regards to the other two.

Was wondering if you guys could give me a quick run down on installing and/or any extra bits i need? I heard i need to get a sandwhich plate for the oil pressure? If i do need this, any idea where i can get this from and approx cost?

What about water temp?

Since my car (r33gtst) already has oil pressure and water temp gauge, cant i just splice into those senders? Or will this stop the gauges in my dash from working?

Thanks in advance for the help guys~

Brendan

hmmm brendan u need a sandwich plate for the oil press gauge china ones are like $20? but they're crap  when i had it on my car the thing popped off while driving and leaked a sh*t load of oil out....because there wasn't enouhg length in the oil filter bolt thingy and also the cheap ones leak cause the rubber seal doesn't seal properly....or something but if u buy a G-reddy one for like $60 it'd be fine....water temp u need this tube looking thing that connects wiht u rradiator hose and u screw the gauge sender in it and thats it if u go on nengun and search it up it should be there :)

Cheers

Chi

You can put a T piece where the stock sender is and run both from there, that's how I set mine up. (for oil pressure)

Did you get a water temp gauge from Jshop? I was looking and couldn't find one :D I grabbed me a water temp sensor housing though, they were hanging on the back wall.

Hey guys,

Yep i got them for J shop, cheap as.

Intalled my boost gauge without problem yesterday.

I also picked up the sandwich plate...

And now waiting for my buddy club water temp adaptor to arrive. (Yes, i know getting branded prodct for such a thing is wasting money, but hey it will match with my nismo radiator cap and greddy air diversion plate ya! )

So when my water temp adaptor arrives ill install oil pressure and water temp.

Thanks for your advice! and offers to help me install them! Ill give it a go my self first, if i run into trouble, ill come knocking for help haha!

Im just a bit sad, that my 1500km old mobil 1 0-40 oil will be lost.. well some of it anyway, ill try and catch as much as i can!

    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
    • First thought is to use a ram mount (to hold the ipad) + windscreen suction mount. The arms on the ram mount can be as long as you like, should be able to position the ipad pretty well with that setup.
