Still hunting around yahoo jp for some dr30 coilovers! Been waiting for a pair of fronts with brakes or a whole set but thats hard to come by(surely you thyink people selling brake less struts have the brakes too ahahah).

So IF i do get a hub/brake less pair of fronts is there another model possibly z31 i can borrow the hubs and brakes off?.

And no im not looking for big arse mofo brakes at the moment for my 1600 and 5stud isn't very valuable to me. Just want to have that magical 100mm strut for one day if i ever upgrade to another similar nissan i can run 4spots and 5stud blingers :D

Cheers!

Oh, and ill be running 14" wheels, Would i even have any clearance issues with dr30/z31 brakes?

Hi Guys,

You can't run 14 inch wheels with stock DR or Z31 front brakes, as they are 274 x 22 rotors and they just don't fit. 15 inch minimum!

If it's for the 1600? 240K used to be the big upgrade for them years ago, or convert LH Torana, as I did to a 180B SSS. Also rear discs would be a big plus. Maybe stock MR/HR brakes would suffice and be best thought of.

Cheers, D

just get a set of HR31 front struts, they run the larger calipars and rotors but also offer the right calipar spacing to run the 4 pots/ brembo's of later model skylines, floating hubs are what you want to look for...

14" as dennis said are a no go for anything larger than stoch r31 brakes.... Maddats i think made an adaptor set up to run the r32 4pots and rotors with 15" rims but $$$$ involved is nuts....

i also have a set of HR30 front struts with Konis orange adj inserts and DBA slotted rotors that i could sell ya cheap, only used for about 100km of road travel. may as well say there brand new cost me an arm and a leg when i brought them.. going nice and cheap.....PM me if your interested

i thought z31 would be ok, And yer another option would be hr31 with ca18 silvia brakes attached. Know 14's clear them for sure. Its just not funny how rare it is to see a pair of brakes with hubs pop up, Might have to end up paying for what someone wants for them in aus

Dans 1600 runs around a 275mm disk with bmw 4spots which 4spots go over, but yer caliper is where the clearance problems are.

These are looking good, too bad they aint on the main island. Today i added up total costs to build a pair with new trd shocks, cusco tops and other gear which included new dba rotors and bendix pads and that was roughly $1700

Ok and another Question, Whats max diamenter body shock can be fitted?

just to let you know i measured the HR31 rotor calipar set up and its min 170mm clarence from the centre of the rotor to the outside of the calipar, they offer a 274mm rotor and the pad face is about 50% larger then the standard aus r31 pad....

not sure what your asking with the "body shock" do you mean insert for the strut??

170mm clarence from the centre of the rotor to the outside of the calipar,

So 340mm in inches is 13.3859.

Just measured up my wheel and yer 340mm available there....but also gotta consider how far in or out the caliper sits from the hub ( theres a step in my wheel that goes down to 315mm ARGH).

MAY work but probally not with my wheels :)

Guys your calls but real world a larger disc and a floating caliper will give better braking than a smaller diameter disk with a 4 piston caliper . The bridge section of a good floating caliper is thinner than many 4 piston calipers - and surprisingly the pistons in many Nissan Sumitomo 4 pots arent exactly big anyway .

I have a pair of DR30 front struts and brakes if anyone wants them .

Cheers A .

Ok ive secured them bare strut legs with hubs and a pair of hr31 calipers to match.

Organising the brakes that may not fit already. New dba rotors from bursons are a steal at 66 a pop. But my new delema is brake pads! Was planning on bendix ultimates but it seems bendix nor ferodo do any performance pads for the hr31.

Other options for pads, ebc greenstuff or what ever, project mu and other similar jap brands, What do you guys run?

Cheers,

Waz.

    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
