I want to import and lease one of these cars and was wondering if anybody else

had gone through the same process.

If you want to import one you will need to have your fiance prepared before you starting the importing process, your best bet is to buy one locally saves time and saves you from running around.

The finance is not the issue... I just tell our leasing company the amount for the car and they send me a cheque.. My issues are the following the

-> Leasing company will require photos, engineers certificate and Blue Slip. In addition they will possibly want to send for a Valuation expert to inspect the vehicle.

So I was wondering if anybody had been down this road.

I Looked into it and the leasing company in question where happy to do it.

No inspection was necessary, but the process I was discussing, was I buy the car get it here, registered etc, then they treat it as just another Aussie vehicle. Once it's registered there's no risk/issues for them

I don't think a lease company will be prepared to take on a car which isn't actually on the road here in Aus, unless it was a brand new car purchased from a dealership and you were waiting on delivery.

If you wanted them to basically approved upfront you may need to order the car from an import dealership?

Hence is easier to purchase one here

At the moment I'm finding I've had to move away from the more mainstream financiers and deal with brokers when it comes to financing grey imports and this is for cars that are already here and complied. I go for commercial hire purchase agreements but I'm being asked for a 20% deposit by the mainstream guys, this ruins any tax breaks I may be eligible for. Some may put up the finance for a 5 year deal with no residual(balloon payment) as a lot of these companies find valuing the V35 and imports in general, difficult, so this makes it a bit safer for them. Also I found the interest rate being charged can be up to 5% higher than if you were financing a local car.

With other less conventional financiers they offer to waive the deposit and over value the car by 20%, I'm not sure how this works, to me it sounds like someone will get a phone call from the ATO or ASIC.

I've found they also like to alter the conditions while I negotiate with the seller, in my case I had to pull out of the deal.I suppose it's a question of how much do you want that car?

There's a few good places still willing to take a grey import on but for me they are getting hard to find.

Hi All,

I purchased my V35 locally and it is all registered and road worthy etc.

I intially investigated this through my work as they had a company brought on board to do car leasing and all reports after some investigation stated that i could get this leased and all would be good.

by the time i had the car purchasing via a personal loan and regsitered it in my name and then went to move the finance across they tell me they cant lease Grey imports!!!!! as you can imagine i was rather annoyed as i had spent a lot of time trying to get this sorted and would have saved me a fair amount of cash a year etc etc.

anyway i didn't have any luck.

anyone that actually gets a company to lease the V35 please let me know who it is and i will investigate.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
