well the trouble is 4 starters i don't kno anything bout these things, so i dunno if it's alright or not.

well anyways i'v had it since yesterday, an well in 3rd gear u can hear the turbo going, but im not getting all that much power from it,

it just sounds like a big old school fan blowing really hard. lol

an i noticed 2night when in 2nd, i hit bout 3rpm, an then it just magically jumps up2 3.5rpm

then up 2 4rpm.

an the same in 3rd.

should i be worried????????????

Yeah I'd be guessing clutch slip too.

The first thing I'd be doing is taking it to a mechanic to get it checked over - they might pick up other things that need attention too, and could save you money further down the track. There are plenty around but as with anything, there are good ones and not-so-good ones.

Are you in Brisbane, or elsewhere in Qld?

mmk, had a new clutch put in, (it took ages)

anyways after driving from stafford 2 caboolture on the m1, it was all fine till i got 2 the suburbs,

then the tacho started playing up again in 2nd.

i took it 4 a drive up mt mee 2day 2 see if it was slipping but the tacho wouldn't do it?

maybe it is just a dodgy tacho?

any pointers

Does the engine change revs (ie does it sound like the revs match the tacho?) or is the tacho just doing its own thing? If it sounds like the engine is revving when the tacho says it is, it's most likely not a problem with the tacho.

Try this. Out on the highway, drop to 90km/h or so. Put it in 4th and nail it. If the engine picks up a heap of revs (ignore the tacho, you should be able to hear the engine) you most likely have clutch problems. If it doesn't slip, you either have something else wrong, or nothing's wrong and you're just worried about your baby

If you're really worried about it, I live on the north side of Brissy and I'm happy to come for a drive with you. I'm no expert but I'm happy to look at it?

that would be nice if u could come check it out,

the tacho does it's own thing, i can hear the turbo more then i can hear the rev's of the engine.

but like i said b4 it done it last night but not this morning? whats up with that..?

maybe ur right an i am just paranoid..

Water pump seal? Didn't even know it was busted! But yeah water pump issues can be evil, if it's a decent leak don't drive it anywhere, you most likely won't get any warning on the temperature gauge until it's already done some damage.

Where's the car atm? Ie at your house in Caboolture, or at a workshop, or somewhere else? If you trust people to come to your house (and that's a lot of trust, but it's your call) that might be the best way to do it, that way if it does turn out to be a big problem you don't have far to go. Don't post your address in here obviously though lol. Keep it to PM ;)

the car is at home, cuz i have the company car as well.

yes the water pump seal is leaking but it isn't 2 bad, it's not alot of water wastage.

it is getting replaced either this saturday or the following saturday,

i do still drive it, an it isn't losing much water at all, just mainly when u start it, apart from that, nothing much.

an yes this is my 1st turbo charged car, dantay, but there isn't much boost 2 begin with,

we can all have a look at it on the cruize.

Best thing you can do, cover the intake side of the turbo, where your bleed off for your waste-gate is, put compressed air into that hose and do a intercooler leak test.

Abit hard to explain but that's the ezy way to sus for cooler leak's.

If no air leak, one proplem out the way.

WHITEY

it was doing it b4 i got the fmic in, an it's still doing it. i'v nailed it down 2 the instrument cluster, because it's completely impossible 4 the engine 2 do what it does.

so yea i'v nailed out intercooler troubles, and clutch troubles because i'v had the new 1 put in.

how ever gonna get the transmission looked at and a bearing replaced,

it's sqeeky, an will prob collapse soon, i think it's called a thrust bearing, oh sumthing like that.

    • Pressure when IDLING, is meant to be 51PSi... So that amperage value needs to go up a fair chunk... I'd personally be factoring for more like 12amp at least on those runs, and at that point you need to hope the already there wiring doesn't drop you a volt or two, as that's a lot of fuel pressure flow drop off from 13.5 to 12V! Taking idle pressure of 51psi, means the pump will be drawing a MINIMUM of 9amps all the time based on your reading of the graph (3bar base, then allowing an extra 0.5bar for boost = roughly 51psi)
    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
