some wild clashes there boys!!

I used to come across a few bogans when I was younger (probably from being on the road at all hours of the morning) but these days whenever I come across them, I pull up to the lights with them, wind down my window and give them the "Colgate" smile (see below)..........must be my extraordinarily good looks because they generally go on their merry way

Funnily enough I never have those issues when I'm on the bike (perception is an amazing thing)........they must hear me before seeing me because the road ahead is always clear. On a couple of occasions I've even had the odd car virtually pull over to let me through as though I was an ambulance :D

Hrm when I drove a commodore I used to get the bogan quotient but I haven't had any problems in my GTR. Being a big skinhead kinda helps there

The biggest problem with a lot of these "tough guy" responses is that as soon as you exit the vehicle with any kind of weapon, you are commiting a crime, pure and simple, and can be prosecuted as such.

I don't know about many of you, but I know any kind of criminal conviction would end my career, and pretty much my life as I know it.

It's funny how thoughts like this mellow you with age.

It might sound weak, but the "drive to the poilce station" idea sounds best to me.

This is becoming a bogan road rage experience thread?

Here's my addition:

Last year when I still had my little Familia, I was cruising down Anzac highway just past the Etsa building when a little Charade started tailgating me, then drove up next to me and proceeded to swerve into me! I slammed on the brakes and got behind the car, but then they ripped up their handbrake, so I swerved over and booted it up to the speed limit and then they followed me up, got next to me and there was about 4 bogan looking guys in the car yelling at me that I was driving a "homo shopping trolley" even though they were in a banged up Charade. They then wanted me to pull over to "bash the living sh*t out of me" but I drove off down a side street, they tried to follow but they gave up after a few minutes.

I hear ya Chops & Cronic.

It amazes me how some bogans can't see past their noses and anticipate the potential trouble they can find themselves for a few seconds of rage that makes them feel like heroes.

Some of you might remember a young lad recently with his dad in the car being chased by a car load of hoons because he gave them the finger......he ended up dead and the old man couldn't do a thing about it.

Around the same time there was a similar situation with a lad and his blind dad or uncle in the car who couldn't help the lad from being bashed by bogans after the lad gave them the finger or verbal abuse. The bogans that do this stuff don't realize that for a few seconds of heroics they could spend the rest of their lives either in jail or pick on the wrong car one day and end up dead themselves. They'll pick on the wrong car one day with an outlaw club member who's armed.......90% of the time the clubbies drive around in old bomb dailys, not their bikes!

Like I said earlier, smile and move on..........they're looking for a knee jerk reaction from you so in their distorted thinking they can justify bashing you.......don't give them a reason!

At the end of the day, I'm usually in the car cause I need to get somewhere so I don't have the time to either be chased by idiots or to pull over and crack their skulls.

wrong. if i exit the car with a tyre iron, spanner etc who is to say that is for violence, not just to change my wheel etc????? to prove me anything else but innocent in court would be next to impossible.

also if i feel that my life is in danger i am legally alowed to use force to protect myself, there is a line at what is excessive force tho.....not going there.

very very true

yeah its preaty funny tho coz i know preaty much all the bogan locals that live round this area, as most are my brothers friends etc. Reckon the dude was on meth n thought wow look at those preaty round lights. they look like butterflies... in the words of Rick James... "Cocaines a hell of a drug"

That would depend how convincing you are when you state the tyre iron slipped off as you were pushing it and hit the other bloke in the head bounced off the ground then hit him again.

lol

ive had a few incidents on the way home from work at 5 in the morning, always when im in the celsior, and always when im passing mawson lakes, i used to just do the old boot through familiar roads to get away from em thing.

now i just dont drive the celsior.

If your really concerned about the people involved, just drive straight towards the nearest police station, park right out the front, Im pretty sure they'll f**k off quick smart.

Good Call!! It's worked before for my chemist mate with wife and kids in the R34.

As the jerk passes by, it then becomes an Exec. Decision to go after him to get his Reg #. Tut Tut. Sounds a bit like a Mustang I know, reversing positions with an R/T

Cheers, T

I dont get it...

In every post someone has referred to a "bogan".

Is that not to say there arent wogs out there that do the same things - spark up in carparks, act like idiots etc etc? Im a wog myself and have witnessed a few things and also have been on the receiving end of mindless roadrage.

I dont think its entirely limited to the "beanie and goatie" set, to be brually honest.

I dont understand why Australians disrespect someone elses car - for whatever reason and im not looking forward all that much to the attention mine will receive, being the only one of its kind in South Oz because im 100% sure a lot of it will be unwanted and negative... i.e, Stolen, Keyed, Bashed, Torched, Spat on, Bottled, etc, et-bloody-cetera.

Its more than likely due to bogans not exactly liking 'jap crap'.

They see a young lad in the car size them up and they think they will have a little fun.

Thats all there is to it so most likely why there is a high prelevance of the 'bogan' road rager amongst the import community.

I've only ever been road raged twice both when I was younger. Both were what I would consider bogans. :D

Thats a fair enough point, but if anyone said "wog", that would be racist. We'd get other "wog's" on SAU blowing up because we are generalising. See what society has turned into?

    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
    • OK, now we are ready to get started. You need to remove the air boxes on each side for clearance. The cover is straightforward, undo the clips on the top and lift the front cover out of the rest of the housing. If it is tight you can remove the air filters first. The rear section of the airbox is trickier. On each side you need to remove the Air flow meter wiring which is held to the airbox with a clip; you need to get behind the clip on 2 sides if you want to remove it without breaking it - unclip the harder side and pull on the clip with medium force, then unclip the easier side and it should pop out The airbox is held onto the intake hose with a spring clamp; you need to get a flat bladed screwdriver behind the spring on both sides and pop them outwards. When you have got them in the right unclipped place they will stay there and the airbox slips out pretty freely. Put a rag in the intake to prevent anything getting dropped in there, and also to prevent you seeing that the turbo seal is leaking oil (as they do). Then. The top of the radiator is held by a steel plate, it is secured by 2x10mm and 2x12mm headed bolts . Remove them and remove the plate Also grab the bushings that hold the radiator to the plate on each side so they are not lost!
    • Next, remove the upper and lower radiator hoses, both are held with a spring clamp. While you are under there, tackle the Auto Trans cooler lines.  Again both are held on with spring clamps, and as mentioned above you should cap them on the radiator side with an 8mm cap, and on the car side loop them with a length of 8mm pipe - this will stop you losing a dangerous amount of AT fluid during the rest of the job If you've been meaning to add a sender for AT trans temp, this is a great time to do it; put a sender fitting into the passenger side line as that is the inlet to the cooler/radiator.
    • Next you need to remove the intake duct (as with pretty much every job on these cars), it is a series of clips you gently remove with a flat bladed screwdriver. They do get brittle with time and can break, and I have not found a decent quality aftermarket one that fits (they are all too soft or flimsy and don't last either) but the nissan ones are a couple of bucks each (ouch).  Once the clips are off (either 8 or 10, I didn't check) you lift the intake duct out and will see the reservoirs Undo the line into the radiator side cap (some bent needle nosed piers are awesome for spring clamps) and then remove the 4x 10m nuts that hold both in place.  I didn't get these pics, but remove the line under the radiator reservoir (spring clamp again) then remove that reservoir. Then you can get at the intake reservoir, same thing, spring clamp underneath then remove it. BTW This is a great time to put in a larger (+70%) combined reservoir that AMS makes..... https://www.amsperformance.com/product/q50-q60-red-alpha-coolant-expansion-tank/ They also make an Infiniti branded and part# version if that is your thing
