Who cares!

I appreciate all cars for what they are. I love the technology in the newer jap cars, and I enjoy the old school machines too.

I think I need to meet you sir.

It's always refreshing to meet another like minded soul - for me performance is king - I don't care what badge it wears or in what country it was built.

Too true.

Whilst I don't like just any rubbish on the road (*cough* Hyundai *cough*), I do appreciate a cars worth/performance/technology/tuneability. I've grown up around petrol head family members. I'm not just talking about spectators who frequent events either. My family and my missus family has a history of competition in motorsports. Including myself (the next generation of petrol heads LOL. I've owned cars from my (deceased) uncle's drag spec 250 cross flow Cortina (this thing could bag up the tyres easy!), a 351 powered XM falcon, to a SR20 supercharged 200B and CA18DET 1600 ... and a Ralliart Magna, a Suzuki Liana :laugh

My spread of bikes owned and built is just as fruitful also. Factory turboed GPZ750, Aprilia RS250 race bike, TLR1000, including italian influence of an MV Agusta. I have too many toys, and no one is stopping me :P

My missus' brother drives an old school HR holden with a 350 chev under the bonnet. This thing has been restored/rebuilt to the max (over $70K worth) and its performance is absolute horn. I've gotta get this thing out on one of SAU cruises one day. :P

back on topic... this is what happened to me today

at around 8pm on my way from work to home some guy in late model lexus suv was following me all the way on the north terrace towards port road and hectically flashing his long-beams into me. I tried speeding up but he kept following me... I got really annoying as I was getting headache and couldnt see a shit (did I forget to say he had xenons) so I the moment of anger I waved middle finger at him and sped up which really only made it worse (but I really couldnt help myself)... I tried to shake him off at port road-george st intersection by making it look like I'm going to turn into george street but then last moment making a really sharp left turn into james congdon rd, but didn't work he kept following me and kept speeding up... so then I went on to right turning lane and tried turning right into a side street but he was heading towards me with full speed like he was going to ram me... so I turned my steering wheel full lock to left and did a burnout out from turning lane back into back street and pissed off... fortunately all the smoke confused him and he could only do a U-turn and turn around, but fortunately I was already far enough and disappeared into side streets...

I'm really reallyy getting sick of people flashing lights at me... it happens at least once a day... I mean, usually its sic cants in crappadores, but I mean lexus suv is pretty random... whats wrong with these people? cant they understand that i dont want to race their shit piles of scrap but just want to get home!?

don't know if the guy just randomly picked me cause I got skyline or was it someone stalking me...

Hearing shit like this really makes ya think, do i really want my licence back.. Yeah, still do, If it happened to me I'd pull over, see what he does then. if he pulls over, gun it, like to see him keep up. Just make sure its on a straight and you know the roads and can lose him down a side street or whatever. But yeah whats the world coming too!

i think the luxury suv crowd cant get it through their heads that the 50-100k they forked out on their 'overweight box on wheels' didnt include any

performance. it probably bothers them that a 10-15k skyline can toast them.

you probably did the wrong thing by reacting to this dude though, it seems as it just fueled the fire some more. just ignore them and they lose interest.

i get the falcadores always wanting to race, tailgating, people wanting to see a drift/burnout ect, i just ignore it all & keep driving

What a knob, I get sick of blokes like this!!!

Good to here nothing serious happened, nice work with the burnt out to smoke him out!!

You should put yourself forward for the next James Bond movie!

its true hey, they see a skyline so that means they need to put on the hero act. if only they knew how stupid they look from our perspective :D

i had a classic the other day, some clapped out old corolla gets up next to me and proceeds to do about 4 keybangers.. sorry mate i dont understand what you are tyring to show here? are you trying to compensate for lack of power by shooting flames out of your exhaust? :(

This crap happens all the time. I like all cars, much like Need for Speed: Tokyo Drift - "That's great, you read the brochure" (Daddy's Viper).

I've had many issues with "Bogans" up my ass with high beams and I simply switch the rear view mirror. If they continue i simply up the Rammstein music with the windows open and indicate to the next lane. If they copy I then slow down a little. If they hit me their fault. I could stop, get out of the car and gather the steel bar in my back seat out, but that isn't going to solve anything in the end.

If it's threatening enough that I have to worry i will drive to some form of police station, or did what i did with my mates on a cruise one, BOX them in and give a two way stare from cars either side and have the car at the front slow them down :( Believe me, i still remember the looks on their faces :D But why bother risking ones life for some idiot with some form of anger issues/psychological problems. Might be a Glenside escapee in the car behind, no matter how good you are at fighting, a gun is a gun, a knife is a knife and you can't reverse the effects. Think smart and stay calm - and safe. Last thing you want to do is floor it at some ridiculous speed only to crash your own car or worse into someone else. That will only give them the last laugh.

you know somethings up when you start attracting road rage when youre in the daily. had some dude in a commodore swerving at me because i overtook him on main north road, leaning out the window yelling at me and swerving. theres some crazy f**kers out there.

i dunno, i like keybangers. :D

the fast and the furious and need for speed merged? aw shit.

OMG I this so reminds me of one time last year right, I was coming home from mates work shop round the 8.20 mark turning off South rd onto Black rd (near the vic) and was doing the speed limit not driving like a dick or cutting anyone off and from behind had a XB/XC white ford ute come flying up my ass and began tailgating m.

Nowwhen i say tailgating i mean i couldnt see his lights close! Checked my speed and was doin the right speed. Guy kept doint it and followed me along black rd once i turned down a back street n saw him keep goin i was like fark this booged it (yes i know for everyone goin to gimme flack for this naughty naughty) and he kept following i did some fairly dodgy manovers trying to get rid of this wanker headed back to blacks then over took cars left right n centre to loose him he did some deadly driving to keep up only got a slight look at him in my rear view when he was honking and flashing me. Beanie, Goatie. etc Didnt get plates and didnt get a better look. didnt pull over coz he couldve had a gun on him who knows.

Reckon he was def on drugs. He gave up after a bit. Just thought id put the word out to warn others in this area the guy either has something against skylines, imports or all of the above. Just a warning to all. I didnt prevoke this either incase anyone is thinking that. Not gonna do nething to attract attention to my car so attracts dickheads n thieves. Just keep an eye out lads n ladettes!!!!

Prob go report it in morning to the local police but without plates not much good!

I get this same wanker twice a week in his shit blue GLI Falcon, wannbe XR6, driving home from work. He sees me and he starts wanting to race me, tailgating me and carrying on like a f**king idiot. This isn't some random moment, this occurs 2 times a week for the past 4 months and he just hasn't caught on that I am NOT interested.

I had a gut full for the wanker last week when he came close to hitting my Stagea, so I reported him to the police.

AA235H is his plate. If you see him, just report him to the cops. Enough complaints and he'll get owned.

    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
