Just a general question... where does one go to get a good quality v-band clamp and not one that looks like it's going to bend / snap when tightened up?

I don't mind spending a bit of money so even if it's completely overkill, throw it at me.

I recall someone on this forum once posting up a photo of a billet clamp of sorts (made for aircraft I think), was purple.

Thanks in advance

S

Thanks for the response...

Yeah they're the ones that were posted before, but now I see them again - they're not what i want. I am in need of some quality V-Band clamps. Do they make something similar but in V-Band format?

Might get a few of those Wiggins ones for elsewhere!

Thanks bud

Wouldn't have thought a wiggins clamp would pull down hard enough to be used on a radiator hose. They use flanged pipes and orings, they don't use compression to seal they use the orings hence their flexibility?

I'm sure if they can hold intercooler pipes they can hold a radiator hose

cooling systems only get to ~1 bar

Yeah great - got quoted about $500 for a 4" Wiggins clamp kit today... that's ONE CLAMP... does anyone have the number for an oil tycoon in Dubai? My best friend just got fired...

told you they were dear as poison LOL

Adel Wiggins Flexible Tube Connectors, known familiarly as Wiggins Clamps, provide an ideal method for connecting and sealing two tubes.

They are available in aluminum with a stainless two-finger latch, and are frequently used for vacuum lines, water lines, and turbo intake plumbing.

All are qualified to AS1650 and MIL-C-22263 specs., and are tested to greater than 125 psi. operating pressure, at temperatures up to 450° F depending mainly on the o-ring material.

Ok deleted the last post and will try again. You can't just buy a wiggins clamp and slam it on over your silicon joins/hoses, there not that type of clamp. They can only be used for metal piping as you need to weld on the ferrules. Yes I know you can use them for pretty much anything. Had a quick look around for some pics to explain what I mean.

same goes for V band clamps. they are only good to join to pieces of alloy or steel pipe since you need to weld the appropriate flanges to the 2 pipes so you can use the V band clamp on it.

V band kit:

another good example of V band clamps and flanges. they are good for IC piping, and exhaust if you have the time and money to install them. :)

can these be used on radiator hoses and such??
wiggins clamps can

but they are dear as poison

Just sounds to me like your saying they can be used on silicone radiator hoses....

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
