Anyone Ever Heard Of A Fine For Causing Excessive Smoke?

My mate got caught a lil whiel ago doing a bit of a skid his tough luck..

he got fined for loss of traction on one or more wheels.. as usual with this type of offense

and dangerous driving.. which is also pretty standard..

but he also got causing excessive smoke lol wtf is this anyone ever got that one?? its only a 200 and something buck fine but I think its the greatest fine I've ever heard of lol

I have never heard of it due to tyre smoke...but they can fine you for your exhaust smoking for to many seconds under acceleration why couldn't they for doing a burn out for to many seconds..lol

in WA, that is the same section as excessive noise

ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1974 - SECT 62A

62A . Causing excessive noise, smoke

A person who wilfully drives a motor vehicle on a road or in a carpark so as to cause —

(a) excessive noise to be made with one or more of the vehicle’s tyres; or

(b) smoke to come from one or more of the vehicle’s tyres or a substance on the driving surface,

commits an offence.

Penalty: 12 PU.

We can also be charged for causing damage to the road surface!

along with (I'm not sure of exact terms) breaking traction, noise, smoke, dangerous driving, endangering others...

the list goes on, all for a simple burnout if the wrong cop gets you!!

      Thanks for the linkie. Certainly always a great deal of help when people post comparisons like these, but I think for now I'll stay away from any semi slicks. I did go ahead and order the sportcontact 7. My buddy has them on his modified A4 and he keeps saying how good they are. For my intended purposes these will probably work real well. I'll report on them once I had the chance to try them out

      Talk about noisy. Even when I still had the Tomei under the car I could distinctly hear the tires rolling. And I doubt I ever will need maximum grip like on a track. My GTR will maybe never even see the 600hp mark and I need to get used to the car quite a bit before challenging the limits of its handling. For the next winter storage I think I will get a set of these rubber drive-on thingies that have a tire shaped base. Those supposedly really help prevent flat spots.

      Well our climate is definitely way less hot overall and the weather can be quite picky at times. I just know that during normal road use or even spirited drives there is no way I'd be able to consistently stay in the operating temperature, and constantly changing the tire pressure would also be a royal pain.

      Input shaft bearing. They all do it. There is always rollover noise in Nissan boxes - particularly the big box. Don't worry about it unless it gets really growly.
