Hi All,

Got a SAFC2 to put into my Series 1 RS four.

All diagrams and manuals i can find on the web for it are wiring diagrams for the SAFC1 not 2. The 2 has a few extra wires that im not sure to do with.... Does any one have a diagram for the safc2's loom?

Also on the apexi website it says I use the N-6c ecu diagram for the pinouts (From here http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdfWiring/7.pdf) But it doesnt have the knock sensors labeled?

Some quick replys woold be wicked cos I wanna get it in thisarvo!

PS ive searched :)

found this :

Red - power

Green - rpm signal

Gray - Throttle signal (TPS)

Brown - Ground

Black - Ground

Yellow - A/F Output (this goes towards the ECU)

White - A/F Input (goes away from ECU)

Blue - can be used as O2 sensor voltage meter. Hook up to one of the primary O2 leads.

Pink Not used (Used on Karman vehicles)

Orange Not used (Used on Karman vehicles)

Purple - Knock

Looks good. Im not going be hooking up the pink orange or blue correct?

Now all i need is a ECU pinout diagram with the knock sensors on it :)

Ok. Looks like Apexi have removed the manuals for the SAFC2 from their site. Some other place has them hosted here: http://www.kaichia.com/media/safc2_wire.pdf

http://www.kaichia.com/media/safc2_user.pdf

Im going to go by the cpu pin out from their. Sound good?

thanks for that QWK32. Thanks the diagram I went with

Its all installed and it turns on ect. As im yet to get to the dyno (will happen in a week or so) What do I need to do so that it doest adjust the mixtures yet? I have purchased the unit second hand so I have no idea what the current tune/tunes it has on it. Is their away i can completely reset it or something?

Once it is reset will i need to do the car setup eg hot wire ect so that I can drive it? If so some one like to share the love with the settings :)

Cheers,

Chris

yeah, if you want to reset the safc you can. or if you think the settings are correct and just want your mixtures to be unaltered you could go into the correction maps and set all the values to zero.

on page 60 of the manual you used from that website, is how to do the initialization (reset) just in etc. and scroll down to initialization.

to just set all the correction maps to zero go into "Setting" and in Hi-Thrtl and Lo-Thrtl set all and values on the map to zero.

if you do the initialization, which is what i would do. the settings you need to set to get the car to run are: go into etc.

Sensor Type ->

Sensor No: HW and 04 in and 04 out

Sensor Calc: 01 in and 01 out

Car Select ->

6 Cyl, and the Thr is the arrow pointing up and to the right.

Dont worry about Dec-Air and on Pg 30 is how to do the Knock Setup. Just so it displays the correct value, not needed to run the car though, you could get the tuner to set this up for you if you want.

for the throttle setting the aroww only points to the right up or down not to the left. so im guessing you mean right and up?

Also just wondering why i hvave read different sensor no's for in and out and snsor calc no's on the forums

eg check the basic settings post in this thread :http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Safc-Install-R32-R33-G-t85232.html&hl=safc+install

yeah sorry, up and right (i edited my original post so its correct). the Sensor number is for what kind of airflow meter / Map sensor you have. So, for all skylines/stageas with RB engines running stock AFM's it is 04 04, except for GTR's which is 03 03. if you have a Z32 or Q45 Afm it is different.

eg, for a Z32 you need to set it at HW 02 in and 04 out. 02 is the Z32 afm code, so you are inputing a 02 type afm signal but want an 04 type afm signal for your RB engine ECU.

and the different Sensor Calc numbers are for multiple AFM applications or for running 1 AFM on a multiple AFM ecu. so for non-GTR RB engines it is 1 afm signal in and 1 afm signal out, or 01 01.

Too true. I've got an SAFC2 coming and I need all the homework. I'll be installing it myself also.

    • This. A 3d wheel alignment is like $120...just take it to the shop. Since theres probably multiple adjustments that need to be made after changing something. Mine has front/rear lower arms, traction rods, tension rods, camber arms, toe arms, front upper arms, hicas kit, sway bars and coilovers. I measure from the edge of the bolt holes on the originals and set the same length on all the adjustable stuff to dial it as close as I could to OEM. Took it straight for alignment; it didnt feel right at all...after alignment, it feels perfect. Similarly i've just changed the springs on another car; and I still needed multiple adjustments to bring it back in spec.

    • Its a well known brand in New Zealand; its a rebrand of the Rhino RAV3.  I don't know what the wiring difference *is* between the rev.1 (installed about 15 years ago) and rev.2; but as you say I would think its reasonable that it uses the same immobiliser relay circuits. I had a look but couldnt see a similar harness; but didnt move things around since I didnt want to mess with it   It was one of AVS well known Authorised Installers; I spoke to AVS themselves about it but theyre unsure hence seeking advice more so from the skyline community who are more familiar with the actual car and its wiring. Im in Auckland; but the installer is on the other side of the city so hes very reluctant to come back to even look at it to confirm something isnt connected into the wrong wire.  I dont want to drop the name since they *did* do a really good job for the most part. Everything is very tidy and he fully replaced all the alarm wiring, all the sensors, the wiring to the door motors, installed a switch which was never installed in the first place...really happy with the alarm install itself..just not this one issue. We all make mistakes, if it is the alarm, I just want my fuel pump getting proper switched, fused, power as it was; without having to shell out for an auto electrician to switch a wire and tell me it was the alarm.
    • Even with the piston at TDC there was room for it to drop, but I don't think it can drop fully into the cylinder, the problem you have is that you need something pushing against the valve to hold it up so you have enough room to put the new stem seal on and the spring etc.  I used compressed air only because putting rope in the cylinder seemed a bit risky to me, I know people have done it countless times before like this. Overall it's a pain in the ass job. Honestly you'd probably be better off taking the head off because the risk of dropping something in the engine and the finicky-ness of it all is very stressful. If you are going to attempt it though i 10000% recommend a 36050 valve spring/keeper tool. I had both the traditional lever type and after doing 1 cylinder it was absolute pain to get those valve keepers in place, even with 2 people. That 36050 is amazing, you do have to push hard to get them in place but it works perfectly almost every time. Back to my actual issue I think my engine is just tired and old and the rings have gone bad. The comp numbers (cold, no oil) were: Cyl 1 -129psi Cyl 2 - 133psi Cyl 3 - 138psi Cyl 4 - 137psi Cyl 5 - 157psi Cyl 6 - 142psi   Cylinder 5 and 6 having the most carbon on them.
    • Who did you have do the installation? I actually know someone who is VERY familiar with the AVS gear. The main point of contact though would be your installer.   Where are you based in NZ?
