Blue smoke is normally a pretty good indicator... take it to a mechanic, he'll give you better advice than me.

Other than that I'll let someone with more knowledge on here than me give you some ideas.

Swing past to the local Supercheap or what ever and get a compression tester..

You should be getting about 150 PSi accross all 6 cylinders..

If you get lower in one or more cylinders.. its rings..

It wont be the head gasket because its blue smoke.. blue smoke = oil.

when im driving normal there's a none to small amount of smoke. but as soon as i give it a Squirt its like a steam train behind me

so if blue smoke is oil wats grey smoke?

turbo is a new highflow so thats all good.

head has been reco'd with new seal's and gaskets inc metal head gasket.

did a comp test. im not losing any power im still making 230rwkw's and just the smoke is pissin me off coz its just another reason to get pulled over by the cops

cylinder 2 -123psi

cylinder 3 -118psi

cylinder 4 -125psi

cylinder 5 -125psi

cylinder 6 -126psi

Thats pretty low...

8.5 to 1 comp ratio should be on avg 160psi. 125psi is freshen up (rings and/or bore is worn?).

Grey smoke is rich fuel exhaust from what I've seen in the past.

You can check if its rings or valves and guides by squirting a bit of heavy oil [gearbox?] in the cylinder and then redoing the compression test. If it doesn't read any higher, its valves and guides, if it improves then its rings.

Also check that you haven't overfilled your oil, if you do that, you will blow blue smoke. Tap a bit out of it, get it to the correct level and it will be AOK.

Crankcase ventilation valve that taps into the manifold could be stuffed. Boosted air goes past this one way valve and pressurises your inside of engine. That would, could pump the dipstick out.

Or excessive blowby past the rings.

Judging by the catch can arrangement, it's been blocked off.

Has the catchcan got ant oil in it?

Where do the blue lines that leave the catch can go?

Have you checked intercooler piping for oil inside em?

no the catchcan hasnt got oil in it. its got some kinda clear water in it.

in the 1st pic do u see the blue vacume hose comin off the airfillter pipe? that runs to the catchcan

and there's no oil in the piping/cooler

Absolutely no doubt that your PSi's are too low accross the board.

I can't see that there is a serious problem here. You say there is grey/blue smoke. Welcome to turbo territory. Almost every skyline I've seen has grey smoke when floored due to the unburned crap that builds up in the exhaust and then blown out when boosted. The blue smoke could be turbo seals and not a worst case scenario. How much blue smoke is there ?

I stand by my comment then, not really a worst case scenario. Quite often there will be oil residue somewhere in the turbo inlet or compressor housing or even the valve cover breather going into the inlet pipe. Not a worry. Black smoke is fuel unburnt, Grey smoke crap in exhaust and blue is rings but needs to be more than you have mentioned. White smoke is usually head gasket. However, if there is bucket loads of white/blue and car sounds like a VW beetle on two cylinders then go to the front of the car, hold your hands under the block and wait for hot oil and engine parts to take your fingers clean off and the oil will infect the wound so badly they will have to take your hands off at the elbow. :D

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?  
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.  
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
