first i sanded the parts with wet and dry sand paper by hand. i used three different grades, i think they wher 800 through to 1200. them use a stitch cotton mop(buffing wheel) on a bench grinder,(has to be at least an 8inch) use the stitched mop with a brown buffing compound. then once you get a shinny finish u use a different buffing mop(loose leaf) with a white buffing compound. and u can get it a shinny as i did.

u also need a spindle (adaptor) for the buffing wheel to fit on a bench grinder.

guys remember this takes hours to get the result that i got.

8 hours to do the rocker(cam) covers.

6 hours to do the intake pipe.

1/2 hour to do the CAS

and about 9 hours to do the plenum.

and this is only polishing time. not removing or fitting parts back on.

ur plenum looks really good, who did you get it done by?

i was thinking about going in to business for myself and doing polishing full time. what do you guys think.

how hard will it be to mainttain that shine ? coz im getting my intercooler piping re-done in stainless so looking to shine up the engine bay... im willing to spend time into it, i dont have a bench grinder, rekon there's any other way for me to do it ?

i wipe it over every time i wash the car and give it a light polish by hand about every 3-4 weeks and still looks as good as the day i did it.

deffinetly cant do it unless u have a good bench grinder!

you wont even be able to use a angle grinder because u need the loose leaf mop to get the best shine. you could always do it by hand, but you would have to do a lot more sanding, and it would take you an eturnity.

My other half does all my polishing.

And my metal fabrication, and all the other fun stuff that I can't do by myself.

I do the painting and ricing and cleaning.

I think it's fine.... as long as you don't mind getting dirty.

:)

It's probably not as viable as it sounds.

Some things can be an absolute bitch to polish, my plenum has at least 8 hours work in it, and it still isn't perfect.

You need to take into account that if something so small takes a whole day to do, will people be willing to pay you a whole days wages just for one little shiny bit?

:)

yeah iknow what ur saying, but i dont mind getting dirty, im a heavy vehicle/plant mechanic by trade so im always dirty anyway.

i have no idea how much a pro would charge to do it. id imagime it would cost a fortune, but they would have all the right gear and get it way better then mine.

also i personally dont like the blue on my hose and wiring! i want to purchase some blue silicon hoses to replace the black one and get rid of the blue plastic.

pm me. let me know when you want it done. if you can remove and refit ur self?

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
