good stuff. post up the graph?

Thought about cam gears, but I like the fat low-mid range and am not really chasing peak power. Not sure if they'd make much difference for what I'm after.

Yeah, it was Stu (and friend) who installed all the parts, and did the tune.

He did an awesome job, and is a top bloke as well. I couldn't thank him enough.

Hey Guys,

i got my 260 tuned the other day after running it in after the rebuild.

Basics of the work, full forged internals, sump and rocker baffles, oil restrictor, Sard Injectors, malpassi fuel reg, in tank walbro feeding 2 litre swirl tank then to 044 bosch external, Garrett 2860rs-5 turbos, ems 8860 computer running 20psi it made 420rwhp (313rwkw)

Need to get a set of splitfires to increase the spark then we'll wind it up to 22psi and hopefully reach mid 320's at the wheels, that way completely ensuring it has 300awkw.

congrats on your newly acquired power. How much did you spent on total?

I was planning on the same mod myself but i have to scrap it cos im being restationed overseas. Will have to wait till i get back in oz.

How does the Jim berry's clutch feel? Any hard slamming like a sledge hammer?

Yudy

Very nice work Grim. How did you manage the rwkw figure? (front driveshaft out?)

Jim Berry clutch is a rebuilt factory item. Slightly shorter travel than standard but really smooth (wife can easily drive it).

Nice work guys. It inspires me to begin the mods to mine :)

How do you find the GT-SSs? Not too laggy?

From my knowledge, the GTSS is just right for it. Probably you are refering to the GTRS. That will be too laggy.

Yeah I know the GTRS is laggy as all hell, but the GT-SSs are still going to be slightly laggy. I was wondering how they compare with stock turbos. I really wouldn't want much more lag than stock. The stockers can support another power for what I would want, it's just a shame the turbine wheels are ceramic, otherwise I'd keep them.

Hey Andy,

Yeah dropped the front shaft and pulled the fuses then ran it in rwd as my tuner only has a rwd dyno, waiting to sort a few things then will drop it back into 4wd, i must say, 313kw in rear wheel drive is ALOT of fun though, the "wow did you see that volvo go sideways" looks i get are pure GOLD! :D

Mine with the 2860rs's isnt too laggy, real boost starts to come on by 3500rpm, then acheives full boost by around 4200rpm, so it comes on fairly hard. Its even more fun when it hits peak torque around 6000rpm and breaks traction in all but 5th gear! lol!

GT-SS's feel like they spool up just as fast as the stockers. Don't have exact rpm numbers, but by seat of the pants they are very impressive. Almost feels like a big cube NA motor.

My old RB20 with 450hp bb turbo, had lag. These are light years ahead.

Do miss the sudden boost hit and manic wheel spin though, (damn ATESSA, sometimes i wish i had a switch to turn that off)

Hmm been reading this with interest as i went for the 2860-7's as i wanted the response (there the same as GT-SS??). I wanted 300rwkw with them, might get it. Mine's a built motor with cams, so hopefully be responsive. Will know shortly.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
