He must not have liked you Kate :D I got my long rb25 for $1200 cash and quoted $2200 for the full engine....Then I negotiated an extended warranty wooo

sometimes it sucks being a girl =[

He probs had a good reason to charge you that much, I mean option 1 tend to charge around that for rb25's no matter who you are

Did you ask your bf about doing my engine swap?

Yeh you're right about that, so many places are f**ked up, ridiculous prices on the smallest of things, but sometimes, you have no choice.

sometimes it sucks being a girl =[

it hardly ever sucks being a girl now! If you know your stuff, you get just as much chance as a guy, in most cases, AND you can work things to your advantage, I would never have got a rebuilt engine for $800 + a front pair of brembos if I had a wang, it's like sometimes they feel sorry for you, so you get shit for cheap. There are the few neanderthals out there who still think chicks are better off at home, but you know as well as I do what to tell them :P

Thanks for the list :>

Will deff be checking these places out!

I have a list of jap wreckers from about 4 weeks ago when I was trying to urgently find stuff, i'm not sure which are open on Saturdays, I guess there would be no harm in calling them and finding out  Here's my list, in no particular order, you can decide what to do with it from there

I would highly recommend Banzai, they are SO helpful!

  • 2 weeks later...

How many people have bought engines from any of the wreckers above?

I have a R32 GTST Nissan Skyline it currently has 24psi oil pressure hot and cold... and a nasty missfire which could possibly be a blown head gasket.

I'm looking at getting a low k's Rb20det as its just a swap over job but i want a engine that will last more then 3months.

Anyone who has bought a engine through the wreckers...

what condition did it come in (pressure tested, leak tested)?

what did you pay?

where from?

Thankyou for any help.... as i would like to know the best places to try for parts and the engine aswell.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
