gtsii, I personally wouldn't buy one, as a number of people here have had major issues with there's due to it's inability to change the timing with load. Yes it will give you more power, but at what cost? A few engine rebuilds have been the result here:(

They are 2 dimensional only, adjusting timing at various rev ranges.

As GTS-t VSPEC says, they make no account for engine load (measured by AFM voltage in the case of a PFC).

I've found pinging to occur over a similar rev range but only under certain load condidtions (mainly coming on boost in higher gears).

With the ITC you either have to be real conservative and dial out timing across this rev range, which means that you lose a lot of punch in 1st and 2nd gears, or risk damaging your motor.

Your call, but personally I wouldn't risk it.

It won't do you any good because you're still running a stock cooler.

If you advance the timing on it it'll be good for all of about 15 seconds and then it will ping it's f*%king head off (literally) once the cooler soaks up the heat.

As with most gizmos that screw with the ecu's imputs, including SAFCs, boost cut defenders and ITCs, you can make some decent performance gains. The downside is that there is no real mechanisim programmed into the things for fluctuations of the input parameters after the initial setup.

Basically what I'm saying is that there is a performance gain to be had but dont get greedy. Set it up on a dyno in the first place and don't go looking for maximum outright power figures. If it starts to ping on the dyno and you only turn it back slightly you can pretty much garantee that it will ping like crazy on a hot day in traffic.

Adjust it in small increments and you will be happy with the results. Go crazy and you'l blow a hole in the top of a piston.

The Super ITC adjusts ignition timing by +/- 15% by modifying the crank/cam angle signal on certain vehicles. The timing curve is adjusted by setting the timing at 5 different points along the RPM range and the values between are interpolated by the ITC from those 5 points. The Super ITC used in conjunction with the Super AFC fuel controller creates a new dimension of tuning with piggyback computers. Apexi recommends having the Super ITC installed and tuned by authorized shops

They're pretty old. The old SAFC's (like 1st and second generation) looked very similar.

I remember reading about an engine swap, SR20 into a stanza or something where they used both an SAFC and ITC but at the time they were about 700 each so I couldn't fgure out why they didn't just get a microtech or something fo the same money.

They'll do the job but I still say be very careful.

Hey redline, did you cut and paste or do you really talk about new dimensions of tuning? :P

    • I've been building a 26/30 for a few years now. I've had the head built with all the good stuff. I had a 32 gtr but blew it up and yes its all going into a vl but im looking for some advice from some RB nuts on pros and cons on putting a 26 head on a 30 bottom end is it worth it Works are as follows Head -Extensive porting 1mm oversized supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech valve guides Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters Tomei 270 x 10.25 cams Head drain Bottom end series 2 rb30 block Cp ceramic coated pistons Eagle rods Romac balancer Oil restrictions  O ringed blah blah spent a fortune And will get a girdle because the 30s arent used to handling that much rpm Nitto billet oil pump Hypertune plenum 6boost mani Refurbed astra pump thats the cover for it in the boot I did have a precision 6262 but sold it because drag car life. Currently building the ass end full 4 link floater rear end with a 2 speed  But the dilemma i have is my mate rekens I should just stick with the 30 head for reliability. Has any one had any issues with mounting the 26 head ie compression blowing gaskets etc. Just looking for some advice from people who have gone down this route. Here's some photos. Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.

    • lol no cats running str pipes … might put the high flow back on but I suspect it might effect my ignition timing a bit. 
    • That looks a bit like yellowing to me. If the rear bar was looking like that from rich idle, I'd ask the question, do you have a catalytic converter fitted, and fully working?
    • Oh yeah gets really bad down here. I’ll have to upgrade the heater and wind screen wipers as well for optimal performance.
