JEM Dyno Day Event Schedule

Date: 18th October 2008

Location: J.E.M & Mechanical Workshop

Address: 2/2 Noonan Pl Ingleburn

Start Time: 9am

End Time: 6pm

Hey Guys,

Today I visited Adam at J.E.M and we organized the structure of the Dyno Day as well as have changed the start time to 9am and will finish at 6pm in order to comfortably accommodate as many people as possible.

Registration:

When you arrive at the venue, please make your way to the Registration Desk located at the front of the workshop to fill in a form of your details and receive a Dyno entry number. The Dyno entry number will be your allocation slot for the Dyno day and is in order of registration (first in first served). A Dyno Entry number will be marked on your back window and the registration form is to be placed on your dashboard.

Note: If you are in a rush and need your car Dyno'ed ASAP please see me (Sarkis) on the day and i will organize it for you.

Dyno Fee:

All registered entries will need to pay $50 in cash when registering.

Dyno Pass:

Your car will be strapped down on the Dyno and will have 1 Warm Up Pass & 2 Power Passes with a Dyno graph printout. The tuner will also write (on the Dyno registration sheet) a brief comment on your cars performance to which then you can discuss things with J.E.M at a later time. In the event that your car isn't Dyno'ed by 6pm you will be able to book in your car for a time to suit you to have your car Dyno'ed at no extra charge. If you choose to get a refund, you wont be entitled for a $50 Dyno power pass at a later date. You will need to pay the standard Dyno fee. (Standard Dyno Pricing: 2WD Dyno Power Pass - $80 & 4WD Dyno Power Pass - $100)

BBQ & Drinks:

J.E.M have been kind enough to offer a FREE BBQ (1 Hotdog & 1 Softdrink Can) to all entries however all additional food and drinks can be purchased.

Hotdog $3.00 ea

Softdrink Can $1.00 ea

Behavior & Conduct Policy

1. There is to be NO ALCOHOL at this event. Any person(s) that brings alcohol on the premises will be asked to leave and wont have their car dyno'ed.

2. Any reckless or unruly behavior will not be tolerated and the person(s) will be asked to leave and wont have their car dyno'ed.

3. Any person(s) Driving Recklessly, doing Burnouts or Drag racing before, during or after the event will have their car details forwarded to the Police for prosecution as well as refused entry to the Dyno Day.

4. Please mind your manners and volume as there are other business in the complex that will be operating and we don't want any complaints to police which in return may cause a defect station to be set up. (Seen this happen many times)

5. There will be a viewing area inside the workshop which you are more then welcome to spectate, photograph and video tape the cars in action however under no circumstances is any unauthorized person(s) to trespass the barrier into the workshop area unless instructed or accompanied by a J.E.M staff memeber.

General Note:

I know that the majority of you will have good conduct however we do need to remind everyone of the rules as well as the consequences. I hope you all have an enjoyable day as well as get a chance to mingle and meet some of the other people in the club.

See you on Saturday!

Regards,

Sarkis

absolutle bs....highway patrol rolled past as i was exiting and pulled over and waited until i drove past and proceeded to pull me over and defect me...fantastic day out....thanks to the boys in blue....go arrest drug lords and leave me alone...

Let me guess... Mac Fields hwy patrol?

Spewing you got done! What you get done for?

great day out, just gota get a high end ping worked out other than that my cars in great nik, exhaust and apixi air filter = 160kw better than i thought.....

sarkis i was told by the guy behind the table this arvo that the mainline 4wd dyno stuffed up after my run, they couldnt print my graph off and i sorta need it to try and fix the pinging and that.... they said they would send it to you or give it to you and you could email it to me....

its under Thomas, dyno run was at about 4ish....

unfortunate

how you work it out

it was a good day 414hp out of my donkey so i was happy to see that on a different dyno.

a few friendly people so it was good to see.

good job sarkis.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
