SAU PUB CRAWL – 4th edition

Saturday 18th October 2008

Welcome, to the 4th SAU Pub Crawl

The Crawl is open to forum members (old AND new :)), members partners, and esteemed guests (ie. a friend who has been declared to the crawl organisers before the event).

The Crawl will have 6 locations, including dinner, and an unofficial location at the end. The evening will kick off at 6.30pm for Dinner & 1st drink at Venue 1, and follow on from there following the layout and ruling below.

VENUES

Venue 1: Brisbane German Club – 416 Vulture Street East Brisbane

Venue 2: Secret Location number 1

Venue 3: RE – 10 High Street, Toowong

Venue 4: Secret Location number 2

Venue 5: DownUnder Bar – Cnr Ann & Edward Streets, Brisbane

Venue 6: Elephant & Wheelbarow – 230 Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley

Unofficial Venue: Cabaret Club – 217 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley

RULES

(1) Before the night begins, you must select a drink for the event. Your drink of choice will be written next to your name on the drinks list, which the runners will carry with them. You must place your drinks money into the ‘kitty’ before the crawl begins. For this, you must estimate how much each drink is going to cost you, multiply that amount by the number of pubs, in this case, 6, as the unofficial venue will not be included. (eg. If you are drinking Bourbon & Coke, and are visiting 6 pubs, 1 x Bourbon & Coke = approx. $4.50 - $4.50 x 6 = $27.00 - You must deposit $27.00 into the ‘Kitty’). At each pub there are 2 runners, and it is the runners responsibility to purchase the drinks from the ‘kitty’ money as per the drinks sheet.

(2) Once you sign up you better have a bloody good reason if you cancel!

(3) There is a maximum of 15 minutes spent at each pub once the participants have their drink. After participants have been allocated their drink, and once 15 minutes has elapsed, the crawl will move on regardless of unfinished drinks/urination breaks etc. This means you WILL be left behind!! There will be an exception if, after voting by raise of hands, the majority of crawl participants wish to stay for an additional drink, in which case another 15 minutes will be allocated. This second round of drinks must be purchased by participants individually, and the money will NOT come out of the kitty. The Kitty is only for 1 drink per pub. A total of 2 drinks (30 minutes) will be spent at any given pub before the crawlers move on.

(4) Some participants may have a job. You may nominate yourself for a job beforehand, but if any jobs remain vacant, a random draw will take place and you may be assigned a job. The jobs are as follows:

* Runners (There are 2 runners for every pub. These people purchase the elected drinks as listed on the drinks sheet from the ‘kitty’ and hands them out to participants.

* Banker (The banker keeps and eye on funds and gets people to tip in an extra $1 or $2 if necessary. This is not a charity crawl, therefore tight-asses will more than likely not enjoy! Any leftover will be split and the participants may do what they wish.)

* Clerk (There is a rating sheet, and at every pub it is the clerk’s responsibility to make sure the sheet is filled in. This is used to declare the best pub of the crawl)

* Security (Security is required to gain excess women and discourage male clingers on/battie boys)

* Historian (must have a random fact about each pub (true or not)

* Photographer (must take a picture of every pub from the outside, and a group photo inside the venue.)

PARTICIPATION

You must indicate your availability by replying in this thread. All participants must have nominated themselves by Wednesday 15th October by 5pm.

SECRET LOCATIONS

There are 2 secret locations on this crawl. The locations have been given clues. The clues will be listed as soon as numbers have been finalised on Wednesday 15th October at 5pm. The first person with the most correct answers will be deemed the winner, and will receive a prize on the night. Do not reveal your answers to anyone.

If there is anyone who lives a little far from the city and needs a place to crash, there is only 2 swags left, so just let me know, Josh & Dave have already taken the 2 beds!

Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any, get your replies in as soon as you know you’re available, and I hope to see a lot of you there! :)

I should point out before anyone asks, we have been granted special permission for entry to the Downunder bar (usually students and backpackers ONLY), participants will be issued with a wrist band at the door and he has arranged for us to receive some drinks specials

SECRET LOCATIONS

Secret Location No. 1: This venue was first established in 1874 by LH Healy and has been entered in the Queensland Heritage Register since 1992.

Secret Location No.2: This building was first constructed of wood and corrugated iron structure, and was opened in August of 1889. Between 1965 and 2005 operated under and different name than it does now.

Please PM your answers to me, don't reply with them in this thread, and please don't make smart-ass comments that may give away the answers to others.

Good Luck!!

Im not going to this but just out of interest I know the first one but are you sure those dates on the 2nd one are correct? If they are then I have NFI

The dates were taken straight off the website, so i'm assuming they know their own venue hahaha It is sort of a trick question :O

Oh btw... the GC are NOT taking bookings for Saturday night. Therefore I think it would be best if everyone ate beforehand OR grabbed something between pubs :(

Sorry for the confusion.
