4door_Sleeper
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced polisher such as the Mothers Palm Polisher (I don't need to do correctional work) and where to get it? (or do you have one I can borrow) I am also after stores that sell Dodo or Zaino polishes. I have been using the Maguires range, and they are fine but would like to try some of the better stuff, in particular the Zaino Z2pro or Dodo light fantastic to get the silver to POP. 4door_Sleeper
I know of polyglaze, its been around for ages. Its not bad, but the Dodo and Zaino are supposed to be much much better. mid life crisis
i have a makita 2 speed buff if ya want to lend that left over from my days as a detailer Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4160915 Share on other sites
Sambo33
i use 3M glaze polish, with an 'eggpad' buff (which i go over by machine) takes care of swirls then handpolish with meguiars 'next gen' polish using one of those round applicators, then polish off with a microfiber towel. this gives a nice shine comes up great only thing is i dont have a very good buff, just a cheap ryobi that has 2 polishing speeds, too slow and too fast lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4161118 Share on other sites
4door_Sleeper
Sincew the car was resprayed I have taken good care of the paint and have very few (if any) swirl marks. I usually: Wash the car Clay it with the Meguiars Clay bar and Quick Detailer for lube Wash the car again apply Meguiars NXT Gen Tech Wax Wash the car again Apply 2 coats of Meguiars Hi Tech Yellow Wax. I have read that I can get a better finish if I use the Z2-pro after the second wash and before the wax. I am after clarity and shine here rather than correcting defects (as there are very few). Sambo33
yeah i forgot to mention i wash the car first then go over the whole car with a 3M claybar. i doubt there is much point in waxing the car so many times, each time you apply another coat you are removing the previous coat Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4161268 Share on other sites
Basti
wrong. you can add layers of wax. just needs to cure for a day or so. the clay on the other hand will be stripping your wax everytime Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4161283 Share on other sites
Sambo33
i never said it was right or wrong, i just dont see the point. ive polished countless amounts of cars through work, and never done this nor worked with anyone else who has done this Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4161377 Share on other sites

4door_Sleeper
i doubt there is much point in waxing the car so many times, each time you apply another coat you are removing the previous coat Its called "Layering", and as said, the layers need to cure (usually 24 hrs) before reapplying. If you check out some of the professional detailing/polishing forums they have lots more information on it. I believe it enhances the final finish, but its a diminishing return (the first layer makes the most difference, subsequent layers only improve the finish little bit more). Sambo33
ah well, each to their own i guess. if it work well for you guys, keep it up. personally i rather save myself the time of rewaxing and put into other areas of my detail Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/237896-polishers/#findComment-4161525 Share on other sites
