ok yeah this might be a place for a wanted sales forum but i dont think it will be any use there seeing as ive been looking 3 months for a set of 87mm non turbo pistons. If anyone can help me with a few places to look at it would be so much help to a skyline thats been in a driveway for 3 months with no engine.......ANY HELP

yes they need to be 87mm because i warped the bottom end (i dont know how but it isnt to but) the thing thats making me go 87mm is the scoare with the 5th cylinder, its so bad it looks like a 100 year old drain pipe, so yeah all cylinders need to be boared by 1mm now and i need help finding a set of pistons.

PLAN B

if anyone knows of a gts4 engine, its just been so long without my car ill just buy the engine and stick it in (bottom end only would be nice as i have a reconditioned top end now)

yeah so its a bit complicated for a wanted forum seeing as these parts are not your everyday parts in japan even :O

Cheers, Andrew

yeah so this was my plan C because the price is going to be really big probity.

i can wait a month or two if no stock pistons or engines turn up then i might choose hand made. The only place i know of so far that make oversized pistons for it are Nissan but they only do it from japan and Nissan Australia will not order it for us. i have the part number for the pistons.

this may help

Use rb25 pin and rods.

Looks like you will also be getting higher compression ratio with an rb30 piston.

RB30 pistons will be dirt cheap but you will also need to get new rings and a good honest clean

even better, could ditch the 25 and go for a RB30 bottom end? :D. keep an eye out in the classifieds tho, i know theres a couple of GTS4 wrecks im watching that had motor and running gear etc...they tend to pop up regularly.

GTS4WD i think you might be right

im sure you can use the rb30 pistons or the rb25 pistons in a rb25/30 hybrid, so there im seeing them as a pistons for rb30's and rb25's am i not right??

anyone who can answer this with a first hand experience on the differences, it would be much appreciated. If so im going to get a good set of 87mm VL/r31 pistons and be very happy :( i have 12 rb25 pistons, and rods so im not short there :D

we looked into a rb30 bottom end but it sits ontop of the 4wd drivetrain and such theres no way it wanted to fit in there because have one in the garage and its not the gts4 block shape

thanks GTS4WD, ill get my uncle to play with the pistons and stuff and see if this option is the winner

ahh yes i found that out after seeing a lot of GTR's like this, although it would be good power being a everyday driver i think i have to keep my response in mind.

Price wise i have a few rb30's lying around in my uncles workshop some in tiptop condition :( so it would only be adapter costs.

ive even got a bottom end from a 25 thats only done 40,000km so im really set on looking into the rb30 pistons tomorrow morning ;)

so many options to choose from all at once, haahahaha :)

Edited by central coast person

Just bear in mind Andy that there is a little work in an RB30DE set up. You need to relocate a pully, use a different timing belt and tap an oil feed.

I vote (for ease of installation) that you use the 25 bottom end if you can get it for a good price because 40,00km is nothing

oh its mine :)

i brought it from a auto skyline that had a hit. I sussed it out and the owner was old family man so i didnt see him going out and racing haha and he didnt cause the crash and i didnt need much from the engine just the internals that are the same as a mannual which is almost everything. i brought it opened it and its so new i dont need to change the bearings or anything, so what ever parts need changing in the good old gts-4 will be done. except for maybe the exception of ACL racing rings which my uncle is strongly recommending and i want ACL racing big end bearings........

as you can see im wanting to stay rb25 as well because the response would be nice, seeing as im getting stainless steel air intake to shove the old plastic one out the way because i think im going 80 or 90mm throttle body, i have those dkne extractors in my skylines back seat atm waiting to go in the engine bay before that air mod though and splitfire coilpacks and just changing every maintenance part there is from fuel filter to gaskets. i dont want to get a rb30 bottom end and addaptor plate and spend money on a engine that needs to be fitted in there when i can make minor power with a lot better response.

turning into a what to do to my engine forum ayyyy

only hopes for me are the pistons in japan or the rb30 pistons, fingers crossed

hmm seeing as i was just at bathurst i have this thing for coming into corners really fast :ermm:

anyway i would have to agree because i did wreak the other engine, not from speeding just my high rev addiction.

news update on this, just ordered pistons from Nissan Japan 50thou!!!!

will keep up to date when i receive these pistons because there is slight confusion, apparently they are r32 pistons but they typed my vin and chassie numbers in and its the ones recommended so its a gamble at the moment.

yep :)

i get free four day paddock passes so i figured i should use them but im only 17 so i cant stay in a hotel or camp ground without a adult so i went saturday at 3:30am!! with my mates dad.

best stories on the way down about him being the guy who ordered and put the tires in the pits for the mark skafe r32. Hes head of Nissan mechanics now.....so he just gives heaps to my mate and me about seeing new cars and stuff everytime we talk cars. the drive down was short to it was only 2 and a half hours (almost no cars no red lights) from the coast but the trip back up was 4 hours.

got some good video's of the race from my phone and it was only 10m away from the cars so the 2mega pix factor dosnt really mater.

highlight of the day was the mini coupe with the roof but at the A pillars and pulled back to get a driver out :) it was extra mini

they are made from the standard material and are $900au

50 thou over? so a 70cc gain? I've been looking for some 60 thou over, add 100cc to my 30DE, wanted somthing a bit lighter than stock though, for a 25DE. Although in standard material you could get away with a tighter bore.

Any more info on these customs?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
