i haf this problem whereby my burnt cd's SOMETIME do not work.

often it works when i load another burnt cd that ALWAYS works..and then after it starts loadin and playing, switch it to the one that doesnt.

once that happens, then i can listen..

if i try to change tracks, it takes what...3 -4 mins to load it man!!

ergh....

esp. those specially burnt tracks with romantic songs to lure chiqs...imagine em stalling

sigh

>.:P

any suggestions?

This problem is not uncommon. Many decks struggle to play CD-R's.

Additionally, more often than not it will be a certain type of CD-R that won't play. For example, my Nakamichi CD-700 will not play any of the gold Kodak CD-R's for some reason, even though it plays Verbatim / TDK / Imation and other without problem.

What type of deck do you have?

i have an alpine TDM sumfin deck with a 6cd shuttle that plays original cds like a graceful b*tch but cd-rs, some of the same brand and even not some of the same brand...could it be the

burner or the quality of the cd-r?

It very much depends on the media. Some players still won't play CD-Rs even if they were recorded at the slowest speed. Try a few brands and buy a spindle of discs that you know will work. It does also depend sometimes on the age of the head unit / stacker.

it is because of the reflectivity of a particular media ... most old decks can't play it because the signal coming back from the media is not strong enough ... hence it searches and searches without any luck and goes kuput!!! ... anyways if u dont' wanna change decks then find a better quality media ... especially ones with a coated back if u know what i mean ... or just buy a newer cd deck which amplifies the weak signals so its made for cdr and rw's :P

Buying a new deck is a simple fix, but this may not always be an option depending on budget. I know of a 10 yo alpine player that actually can play mp3's! so its not always the age of the player. Yes your burn speed maybe to fast, yes your format of mp3's maybe a wrong also. I have videos that work perfectly on the computer, then put them in the car and forget about it, dosent even look like playing. More then likley it is the player having probs picking up the signal off the player. go raid ur mates computers for blanck cd's and replace them with your own blank cd's that do not play in your car. this will give you an idea of what works and what dosent. Good Luck

i just burnt a cd last night on the slowest...2x speed or sumfin.

works great nowww...play superbly..able to switch tracks with no probs at all...must be the burner burning at lower quality when burnin fast..

:P

  • 5 years later...

so have we come to a preferred cd brand yet

i'm using Philips cd-R but cant get the stock stagea unit to read them

would it be worth geting gold or blue cdr's to test

also i cant burn any slower the 4x on my version of nero - and its the good nero too

just annoying as i had a fm transmitter fir the old car to play the ipod but even with a converter the jap frequency isn't high enough the read the >106.0 mHz freq from the receiver

i have only 1 station and i hate it !!!

yes ultimate thread revival

but i have learnt starting a new thread is not often wise

    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
    • Hey mate, really appreciate the help. Have been looking pretty extensively myself and was certain they were retro fitted, but then ended up finding a 4 door with what looks like the same side skirts or at least the closest I’ve seen. • Isn't there a PAR engineering gearset that has closer to stock ratios? And they claim they'll do whatever ratios you want.
