hit there i have an idea instead of turboing my na 33 gts-4, since these machines came out with the gtr driveline i was wondering if i could get a gtr block and head then biuld a motor up, i want to use the sump from my gts-4 to keep it awd but am afraid none of this is allowed in s.a and the car will need to be engineered, the engine will take a while to biuld as a lot of the parts are going to cost an arm and a leg(tomei and such) but i am hoping to chase at least 320-400kw from all of this. i will contact lmg to do the tuning anf fitment as they are great at this sort of stuff, can anyone recommend cams, cranks and injectors casically any good brand and part to run in this engine.

cheers... michael

or

you could simply rebuild your current motor

ie

Forged rods & pistons

head gasket to suit

bearings

crank work

studs

cams

feul setup

injectors

pump

feul reg

then obviously the turbo setup

something like the GT35/40

or you could put an rb26 setup.....

all depends

well your sump is a GTR one

im rebuilding my engine at the moment mate with 50thou pistons and the bottom end is GTR where it meets the sump and RWD where it meets the head to suit the rb25 head......basically and honestly a gts-4 is a mongrel to work with in parts. If you were to buy a rb26dett you would need to look into a bolt in job as i know that

DIMENSIONS (L x W x H) (mm). NOTE* this is manual, auto engines have different dimensions

rb25de:2wd 845x595x680

rb25de:4wd 845x595x690

rb26dett: 870x656x675

there may need to be some work with the engine mounts but a rb26dett will be able to sit snug in height, the placement of turbos and such are going to probity be placed far away from stock engine bays specs and you may find that your going to have to build a rb26 thats gona look different in the engine bay. Also part wise you will be able to find some GREAT parts just as cheap as a gts-4 part and make 400KW for half the price with EZZEEEEEE

even i know that 320-400kw out of n/a engine is just stupidity and not even possible.

even if u do get a 2.8l stroker kit and forged pistons/con rods and bigger cams

most defiantly

2.8l stroker kit and CUSTOM forged pistons(ones with unique crowns that are higher than factory/conrods and bigger cams, Custom exhaust system from extractors to tip, 6 cylinder DCOE 52/48mm (some ridiculous injectors to make requirements of air to fuel Ratio, porting the head, increasing the heads face to an overall compression ratio to 11:1, nitrous-oxide SYSTEM (correct injectors to support this again ..... more matching!!!), MSD ignition modules, ECU ....... other bits and bats yeah i reckon 300kw N/A is possible with the money and right parts

NOT WORTH IT!!!! no even for show. it will just cost so much in fuel and insurance and stuff. MissR34 + 1 with the stupidity

its not na if you use nos, NOS is a type of forced induction

mick is this your first car and are you on your P's?

that sort of power is HUGE on the street, if you havent been in a car with that sort of power, i suggest you start talking to people that do and get them to take you for a spin, its bloooody quick. Its very easy to type numbers but honestly you dont need much more than 300kw's for the street, thats plenty.

Have a read around for r33 gtst, see what people have done to get certain power levels, everything engine wise you learn from the rb25det's can be used for your engine.

Also if you want around the 400kw mark, whilst your gearbox internally is the same as a gtr your rear diff definately isnt. They run the smaller axles (same as the gts skylines) and with that sort of power you'll definately start braking drivetrain parts.

its not na if you use nos, NOS is a type of forced induction

people debate if nitrous-oxide is forced and its not forced induction :D

just mixes in with the fuel. Just another liquid added to the car which is why i include its input to kW's. Then again i get what your saying and it isnt seen as forced induction in racing but drives are to state yes or no to there cars if there run on nitrous-oxide because its got its own category just for that type of ........ 'enhancement'. Who knows what natural not even plain old ron98 is

agreed with the amount of kW you want for a street car????

if so a 400Kw street car is seen as a work of art getting on the road. Also difficult to drive just because all the parts are going to have to be fairly heavy duty with that power and not street friendly. if your after a street car look how far you can go at making it a desired car with power and comfort for driving because if you make a mistake with the power you most likely wont make money back selling the car or parts to quieten down your car.

thanks for the replies, gtfour a mate at work has a xr6 that made 495+kw at the wheels loosing traction on dyno and is street legal(it can make up to 600rwkatw if the box was done), its quick, i am not after that sort of figure and your right 300kw is what i want to start of with this isn't my first car ive owned a few and am on my p's, as far as i know s.a has no laws bout p platers and hi powered cars as of yet.

money wise is not an option as i can work 12 hour days 13 days thats easy(sort of hard being an apprentice working in the mines). i am also thinking of building the motor up then selling my skyline then buying a gts-t and putting it in, as ive been told that a single turbo engine can make more power than twin in some cases. dont know bout that??.

anyway i will probebly buy a engine then go from there.

cheers... michael

    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
    • Literally looks like direct port nitrous haha
