CES have a well made split dump front which is eqivalent to the HKS, blitz etc and they are local in Australia.

I have there system on my r33 gtst, very fast spool and no boost spike, expensive but well worth it as quality is second to none!

Yes well kind of, its an R33 series 2 the one with the black plastic front wheel, got me 220rkw, which is now up for sale (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R33-Series-2-Turbo-Mani-t247362.html) as i have upgraded to an HKS gt2540 and hoping for around 260rkw, which will bolt up to the CES split dump front, with the aid of a grinder to remove the half moon divider  , as the hks turbos already have the divider inbuilt in the rear of the turbo housing, see attached pic...

I think the biggest problem with the chinese made "items" is that they dont make the flanges thick enuff to handle the actual weight of the dump front so they tend to crack and brake once fitted to the car, this is very obvious when comparing them to the HKS or Blitz ones which have very thick flanges and hence are much better items and in turn will last much longer

The boost spiking issue is also due to the position at which the separate wastegate pipe is plumbed back in, good dump front pipes or dump pipes use a very long separate pipe which plumbs back in much further down the pipe for example the trust dump pipes for gtr.

you got a idea of the size of your waste gate hole on your HKS fullboost? i managed to get my high flow out to 28mm (originally 24 mm), hopefully that is enough, will find out tomorrow after i finished putting it back together.

didn't work, still boost creeping to 17 psi, just takes a little higher in the rev range to get there , run outta ideas to stop it except now to put bigger injectors in so it can run what it wants. bitch

But the JJR ones have a very long split pipe? And the HKS one pictured above does not..

And for reference for Tough R34 here is my HKS front pipe. Not stainless.. mild steel are expensive enough

Yes well the hks dump pipe has to fit into your stock exhaust system and is made to bolt up to your front pipe so it cant have a longer separate pipe, its not just the length but the position at which it plums back in which will also affect the way exhaust gases are removed from the system and in turn you want an exhaust that has the least amount of turbulence possible i.e exhaust gases going separate ways so they dont disrupt the rest of the exhaust flow and which is why plumbing the separate wastegate pipe further down the system does help this but in turn leads to boost spiking issues...

i would love to know who sells the HKS dump and front pipes off the shelf in Vic but it doesnt seem like many places keep them in stock.

Anyone know?

Im personally going for quality products rather than cheap copies....

Hmm yes go the hks, the cheap dumps actually have cost a few people there engines as the wastegate hole in the dump pipe didnt line up with the wastegate and hence in turn the wastegate couldnt open all the way, causing higher boost levels then anticipated.

Its gonna be hard to get the hks dumps at a good price from japan as the dollar is down the creek atm , so local in stock will be your best option,

try japanese import spares they are in SA thought they might have some 2nd hand ones or new ones, i can check them out if you require

the bottom item in that pic, is it for an rb? it looks like it is but cant read the tag, looks like it would be a good option.

i myself ahd the jjr split dump, and have boostspike and fitting issues,

have purchased a hks style front pipe from gktech with has the flex in it and will be using the stock dump with it on the standard turbo. then when i upgrade the turbo i can get a better style hks or something with that.

I've got one of the BOS/BATMBL split-dump/front pipes, and havent had any problems with boost creep. The split is coming back in after the bend, which I believe creates less turbulance. I dont know about others though.

Is yours a bell mouth/ half moon or full circular divider??

I would love to know the price of them but i can't find many places that even list a price online. It would be good to find a place in Vic that has them in stock but i doubt anyone does.

sorry, full circular divider?? Its a full split dump, so two pipes, which use a half inset moon on either side devider.... did that make any sense at all??? LOL

Mine is the same as this except in stainless:

It's coming off the car next week and is for sale (reason is getting bigger turbo, and dont want issues with the waste gate hitting the split pipe, it's perfect for standard turbo though)

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
