Iam going GT30 really soon and i was wondering about a few things. Iam running a pretty heavy weight oil right now Greddy GR-1 10w-60, i get awesome oil pressure all day long (7.5 kpa revving high) and i was wondering if i should run a restrictor on the GT30 to prevent seals from getting blown.

Those of you who already run the turbo, what size oil lines did you run to the turbo? I was also planning on running a Tial 38mm external wastegate with VTA, will this suffice for my final goal of 15 psi?

Thanks

You sure its kpa? 7.5 kpa is 7.6 kg/cm2 and thats way too much pressure. Usual pressure for a road car is 3.5 to 4.0 kg/cm2. Even revving you shouldn't see 7.5 once the oil warms up, 5 maybe.

If you have a look at the bolt that clamps the banjo fitting to the block on the feed side, you will probably find that there is a restrictor in it already anyway.

There is a wastegate sizing help thread in the DIY section, a 38-42 sounds about right to me [i'm running the same turbo and using a 40mm at 16 psi, and I used the DIY thread and thats basically what it told me to use].

At say 3-4000 rpm cruising you should see 3.5-4.0 kg/cm2, thats normal or both my std gauge and greddy gauge and/or oil pump are stuffed and I know thats not true. If your going off the std gauge then it could be out........try installing an aftermarket gauge and see what it reads. I use 5w 50 synthetic, so it shouldn't read any different to your 10w 60 when its warm, maybe a small diff, but not enough to worry. Not saying your oil pressure is bad, but I wouldn't want it.

    • Where is the warning "That this thread is super old"   I just went into a 5 year old thread, went to do a reply, and couldn't see anywhere obvious a warning of it being super old
    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.

    • I _think_ that one has a christmas tree or some other retainer spike into a hole in that panel under it. Come in under it with thin scredrivers and just pry it gently up. If you rip the ears off the retainer pin....so what? Just stick it back down after with a bit of race tape and carry on with life.
