Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a late model R33 GTS4 and doing a RB26 conversion. Has anyone does this before?

Just wanna know what I'll have to change in the drive line.. like Gear box etc..

Just curious to know if the R33 GTS'4 use the ATTESA system like R33 GTRs?

thanks guys..

Yes. They use the same ATTESSA as GTR.

Its not the exact same gearbox as GTR (shorter gears) but stronger than GTS

You will have to upgrade fuel pump to match the 26's needs.

Other than that. Its all very straight forward

So the Drive line is strong enough as it is? Dont need to upgrade beside gear box clutch?

So if i was to buy a late Mode R33 GTR half cut... with Box and ECU loom.. etc.. all that stuff..

Everything will bolt in fine?

all depends on your drive, if you're dumping the clutch from the rev limiter constantly and side stepping the clutch during changes then don't expect anything to last long.

The car will be driven to its limits on the track... But on the street just the usual burst here and there...

Should be alright I'm assuming...

i hate to be a smart arse, but nissan did it. They took a gts4 and put in a rb26 a well as giving it a wide body kit and some more guages, among other things.

They called it the skyline gtr.

Seriously though, why do you want to go down this path? Cost? how much do you think you will save? Something different perhaps? Found a cheap gts4? Doing it for a challenge or hobbie? etc...

gearbox will be fine

rear diff wont be

its not a small job, like any conversion, its gonna cost quite a few $$$.

Unless you were getting the gts4 really cheap, i would sit down and do the math and see how much you're going to spend. With the price of r33 gtr's these days i think you'll find that it doesnt work out that much more to get the real deal.

But its all apart of the fun, if this is a project car go do it and you'll learn a whole lot, but if you want it as a daily save up that little extra and just get the gtr

I bet you will be half way thru the conversion and say to yourself "i should have just bought a bloody GTR"

If you do complete the GTS4 RB26 conversion, it still will never be a GTR.

Never want it to be a GTR.. just a street sleeper.

Im going down this same path with my R34 GT-four. Hoping to bolt a RB26/30 into it later this year. Will let you know how i go. I'll make a project build thread sometime in the year.

I did it with my R32, now i have a 316kw GTS4. Would have been heaps cheaper to just buy a GTR but that depend if ya gonna do the work yourself. The look on peoples faces is classic when you blow them away at the lights :)

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
