Jack Daniel’s Racing roars into Shepparton for SpringNats

The Jack Daniel’s Racing V8 Supercar team will roar into Shepparton for the SpringNats Car Festival on Saturday, 29 November.

Six-time Bathurst 1000 winner and motor racing icon Larry Perkins along with drivers Todd Kelly and Jack Perkins will be on hand at DECA to meet and greet fans, autograph team posters and pose for photos alongside the Jack Daniel’s Racing Holden Commodore V8 Supercar show car.

Kelly, driver of the Old No. 7 Jack Daniel’s Racing Commodore, said he was looking forward to the SpringNats appearance.

“Cars and machinery are my passion, so I can’t wait to get back to DECA and Shepparton – I hope they don’t mind that I’ll probably have more questions about the SpringNats cars and events as what they’ll have about V8 Supercars!” Kelly said.

Kelly is one of the hottest properties in V8 Supercars today. He is the youngest race winner in V8 Supercar history and has eight V8 Supercar round wins to his credit, including the 2003 Sandown 500 and 2005 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 with Mark Skaife.

Jack Perkins, son of Larry, has only recently returned to the Jack Daniel’s Racing team full-time after standing down in his rookie season late last year after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Perkins rejoined the team for the Phillip Island and Bathurst enduros and finished eighth in both races with co-driver, Wodonga’s Nathan Pretty.

“I’ve grown up around racing and like Todd I’ve got a great appreciation for nice cars and events like the Shepparton SpringNats where they can be showcased, so I’m really looking forward to the experience – it promises to be a great weekend,” Perkins said.

V8 Supercar star Todd Kelly gives his Jack Daniel’s Commodore a polish before heading to Shepparton for the SpringNats at DECA. Kelly, team-mate Jack Perkins and team owner Larry Perkins will be at SpringNats on Saturday, 29 November.

    • Yes, overthinking. Many PS reserviors are completely opaque. Our Skyline ones, for example. Have to remove lid, peak inside, swirl the dipstick, try to remember how to read it, etc etc. Normal. Radiator overflows are often sufficiently opaque and scunged up that you can't see the true level inside anyway, and have to open and have a peak. Besides which, I replaced the (massively expensive, even back then) plastic overflow in my Alfa GTV, back in the '90s with a stainless one that I had a good fabricator make up to be dimensionally same-same, that looks remarkably similar to the Bogan's Moroso one above, and I never suffered any particular paranoia that I didn't know how much coolant was in it.
    • Looks great, but I'm always concerned that it makes it difficult to see what level the fluids are at. Am I overthinking this?
    • Looks fancy But after having a look, prior to its installation, I noticed that the yellow looking power steering reservoir would look crap next to this So I have this incoming..... Much cheaper than the Moroso and has great reviews (yeap, it's a Moroso knock off)
    • Can we place bets? My money is on there is always the option to use the 1 way profile. So the diff is either 2 way and 1 way, or 1.5 way or 1 way.
    • I also used Knox driveshafts when I the slip yoke T56 to the 3bolted TR6060 type. I believe I was one of his first jobs as it literally changed hands when I was there, started by the old owner and finished by the new. Everyone seemed pretty great about it. So wasn't shy/seemed pretty knowledgeable when dealing with weird custom people like me.
